Looker is another of my hard luck stories. Looker was a very promising puppy. He won both his majors from the puppy class before he was a year of age. But could he run! He was the fastest thing around. No one could touch him, and he did take downs without missing a beat! It was beautiful to watch him in action.

Well, it was the day before his first birthday and we had just gotten home from the vet. We were getting a health certificate to fly to the Midwest specialty weekend. Well he was flying around the property and zigged when he should of zagged and broke both bones in his front leg! I was devastated to say the least! I splinted the leg to immobilize it and we rushed back to the vet’s office. After looking at the x-rays and much discussion we decided to go with a fixader solution instead of plating. Well long story short, when they put the leg back together they rotated the leg too far clockwise and now the wrist joint moves from 1 to 7 instead of 12 to 6.

Since that time, he has been out with a couple of handlers to see if he could pickup his missing singles. But no such thing. Every judge that saw him loved him until they saw his down and back. All they could say was ”Too Bad! or What a shame!”. Well he is retired from the ring but has proven himself in the field.

I took him to his first trial and very worried I might add. The trial was being held on a polo field so I felt that I couldn’t get a field that would be any smoother. Well, he won the open stake with a full stake. He went on to win Best of Breed, I was so impressed at his ability. He ran just like he did before the break. Well the judges split their decision on Best in Field and he lost by one point. But I didn’t care, I was so happy. He has also started agility and love it.
