What Am I Doing Here?!
As you read this letter, our adventure has already begun! It never really hits me until I am on the plane. For the next 15 months, I am going to experience areas of growth unimaginable. STEP starts with a pre-field orientation in Dallas, Texas from June 8-12. Then we hit the ground running in Guatemala on June 13th.
The first five days are set up to help get us into a routine. Each morning we have breakfast at 8 a.m., a time of devotion at 9 a.m., preparation for our program at 10 a.m., lunch at noon, and then we work in various areas of ministry with the OC missionaries throughout the afternoon and evening. These five days of orientation help ease the STEPers into the new world around them. We will learn cultural cues, develop programs for children as well as those who gather for the evening church activities, and learn how to share with people using tracts in Spanish. We will spend most of our time learning from Gary and Nancy Lengkeek, which were introduced to you last month.
Starting June 18th at 6 a.m., we will start traveling to cities around Guatemala. For the first three days, we will be in Tulate, a town located on the Pacific Ocean. On June 21st, we will take a 20-minute boat ride to Chururin. We will then travel to San Pedro on the 22nd and stay through the 24th. We will then return to Guatemala City to be with the Lengkeeks on the 25th. The rest of the month will be spent with OC staff learning about different ministries and programs that are available through SEPAL.
This is an amazing time for me! Please pray for my safety, health, peace and strength. Please pray for unity within our team. I know I can do all things through Christ, but I’m still Seana and have many shortcomings that I will face in times of stress. For the next two months, I encourage you to write me at this address:
