Greece Representative Side To Tour New Caledonia

Greek Rugby League is begining to make some strong forward steps. With the discussions for an international between Greece and Italy to be played in Sydney as a stand alone game some time in September going strong, and New South Wales Universities showing some interest for a clash later in the month, the news that the GRL could soon be touring New Caledonia will do alot to help the side develop a serious national team.

The concept of a Greek Rugby League side follows the model of the successful Lebanese Rugby League, and also the one the Italian Rugby League is following at the moment. That model was to setup a representative side filled with ex-pat players who currently participated in recognised competitions.

From there the organisers were going to organise finance and develop a reputation to then start a regular domestic competition in the home nation. For Lebanon it has already started to work, and for Italy it is very soon going to kick off.

Full details of the tour to New Caledonia have not yet been disclosed.
