Greece Vs Italy To Stand Alone |

The proposed match between Greece and Italy is likely to be played as a stand alone fixture in September. Organisers are looking at staging the game in the inner city of Sydney with Henson Park,Kogarah Oval and Leichhardt Oval the most favourable. "Those areas contain plenty of Italian and Greek people who are also Rugby League supporters.We had hoped to play the game as a curtain raiser to an NRL final series match but that looks very unlikely" said Greek Rugby League founder Colin Mylonas. Greece will play a warm up match two weeks before the game against the Italians.The opposition has yet to be confirmed but a side from the Student League looks most likely. GRL officials will also fly to Greece later this year in order to build up some contacts. "We are going to look at the facilities and see if we can generate some interest in getting the game introduced in the Universities" said Mylonas.
