Round 2 Of Ionio Cup Battle

History will be made on October 2nd, when for the first time ever a Rugby League International Match will be held at Marconi Football Stadium, Sydney. Marconi Stadium has been the traditional home of its National Soccer League Team known as the "Stallions" as well as being an icon of the National Soccer League. However on October 2nd, the eve of the 2004 NRL Grand Final will see the Italian Rugby League defend their Ionio Cup Title against the Greek Rugby League, Soccer will take a backseat to this spectacle.

The Inaugural Ionio Cup match played in 2003, was a fiercely contested clash which saw the Italians claim victory in the dying moments of the game. The staging of this very important match is critical in its efforts towards the development of these two very well supported european emerging league nations.

Featuring also on this night, will see an Italian under 15's development squad take on a development squad from the New South Wales Rugby League. The Staging of an under 15's match will also be used to scout and test junior Italian players who could gain selection to Represent the IRL at the World Youth Championship of Rugby League to be held in Moscow, Russia in October, 2005.
