Namtar

Namtar, death, the hand of the gods, fate, Ereshkigal's Sukkal, and a few other things. This is the grim reaper and the angel of death in the Sumerian religion. He serves as the highest servant of queen Ereshkigal and is a powerful god in his own right.

I decided to depict him as mix between a skeleton and a well muscled man. I didn't want to make him look like the grim reaper, but I also didn't want him to look like Skeletor. Having him look like a vampire or zombie was right out.

I could have gone with a depiction similar to the biblical angel of death since said angel was likely inspired by Namtar, but there really aren't that many depictions of the angel of death as distinct from the grim reaper. Go ahead, look up Samael or Azrael. Keep in mind one's a band name and the other is a cartoon cat name.
