Blather's Kite

Heavily influenced by various genres of music - rock, progressive, funk, experimental, ambient, etc., Blather's Kite take their sound from a variety of sources and create something truly fresh and different, and against the norm. The band's tunes utilize irresistible grooves and catchy melodies, a solid, driving rhythmic structure, and intricate guitar textures and harmonies.  In addition to their regular repertoire of original tunes, the band is also known to frequently break into improvisational jams which showcase the group's unique chemistry.
Blather's Kite has been the most active live band in The Upper Crust, having performed in clubs, bars, fraternities, schools, and at benefits and parties in Philadelphia, State College, Reading, Bloomsburg, Shamokin, Halifax, Elysburg, Wyomissing, and Coal Township (all in Pennsylvania), as well as in Rehoebeth Beach, Delaware.
The group's recording history began in 1993 with the release of their first 6-song demo tape, simply titled Blather's Kite. In August of the same year, the group released a collection of eleven originals, titled I Broke My Radio, which includes some of the bands most popular songs like "Sleepin' Soul," "Piece of Rest," "Jesus Disco" and "That's All I Said".  Blather's Kite's most recent studio offering, Coal Slag, was recorded in the band's hometown of Shamokin, PA, at Clear Studio with mix master Dennis Kaleta at the helm.  Titled as a nod to their "coal cracker" heritage, the album includes nine timeless classics and band favorites.
The band is currently on hiatus since the summer of 1997.  Since then, Ffej has been busy with Planet Ass, Cosmic Vending Machine and other projects; Spade has been working with Philly-based recording unit Piranha Armada; and Wagner has been recording and performing in Shamokin with various musicians.
