Cricket Machine

Ffej and Joe Wagner have worked together in various groups and projects since late in 1989 when they joined Shamokin-based cover band Undercover (which also featured bassist Matt Spade).  Although the pair is most known for their work in Blather's Kite, they have also performed together in an assortment of other projects including Bunker Hill, Victoria's Secret Service,
Johnny Disco Shoes & The Teenage Blondie Ninja Dragons, and Cricket Machine.

With the latter project, Cricket Machine, the duo had a one-time chance to exhibit their genuine chemistry, which was cultivated during their formative years in Undercover and later blossomed in Blather's Kite.  Having performed together for years, the two musicians developed a special musical bond that's evident when one listens to The Ffej & Joe Story Hour.  A completely improvised performance that was broadcast live on WQSU FM 88.9 in Selinsgrove, PA, this recording offers a fascinating, funny and somewhat twisted glance into the mind of Ffej, who reads a selection of eccentric short stories, while Wagner provides his one-of-a-kind guitar styling to accentuate the words.  The result is a recording of somewhat magical proportions, and has been cited by both musicians as amongst their favorites of their careers.

After some time apart, the two have recently come together to record a new batch of instrumental improvisations, titled Return of the Cricket Machine.  The album's 14 tracks were recorded and mixed at Ffej's own Left Orbit studio, and were later digitally enhanced and edited using current computer technology.
