Dennis in the Land of the Hanger People!
(based loosely on a true story)

A long, long time ago in fact so long ago that recorded history hadn't actually started recording yet but not so long ago that the story was forgotten, there lived a young lad who for the purposes of this story we shall call Dennis which is a good thing since his name was actually Dennis.

Dennis was a lad of few words who was rather curious about the world around him and he tried to satisfy his curiosity whenever the backs of his parents were turned or when they were busy doing the regular routine tasks of life and being a somewhat non-well-to-do family who couldn't afford the services of a task manager, was more often than not. Dennis would just disappear for a while only to turn up again when he was in the mood for his favorite drink of "Um-nee" which tasted somewhat like a strawberry milk drink but wasn't since this was a very long time ago and strawberry milk hadn't been invented yet. And wonder and roam he did.

One day which was much like Monday but since the calendar hadn't been invented yet wasn't, the young lad Dennis wondered off as was usual through an opening in the cave which was where Dennis and his family lived but this was an opening that Dennis had never been through before which was why he was curious to see what was beyond the opening. When he saw an opening, he made a break for the opening.

The moment Dennis stepped through the opening he was transport to a wondrous and strange land the likes of which he had never seen before and highly unlikely that the strange and wondrous land will ever be seen in the light again being that is was mostly dark except for the light coming through the opening that Dennis had just wondered through and the light just happened to go in with him since it too was curious to see what there was to see beyond the opening.

"Come here, lad," was the first thing that Dennis and the light that followed him heard, all else was silence.

"Huh?" Dennis said in a matter of fact I hear strange high-pitched voices all the time kind of way.

My good lad, you are now in the Land of the Hanger People but you are not a hanger for I can not hang articles of clothing off of you, so why are you here?" said the high-pitched strange voice which Dennis realized was somewhere above him.

"I have come seeking knowledge and the truth, I have come to find the meaning of life, I have come to be at one with the world around me, I have come to rock this world, bay-bee," Dennis replied with all the passion and fury of a warren of dust bunnies during mating season.

"Um, well, that is well and good, lad," the Hanger stated in a more than dumbfounded fashion.

Dennis thought that the Hanger Person had more to say but he didn't, so Dennis said, "Mr. Hanger Person, do you have the answers to the questions that I need answered?"

"Number one is please do not call me 'Mr. Hanger Person' for my name is Bobbio and I would prefer that you use it. The answers are few though the questions are many. The answers you seek, I cannot give for they lay within you and only you know what they are. And I being but a mere Hanger know not much of the world outside the Land of the Hanger People and I can only tell you the way we feel about such matters. We live only to hold articles of clothing so that they can be conveniently reached, we are the true slaves to fashion," Bobbio's words faded off into some dream-like state of which only those who are Hanger People would understand.

Dennis pondered over what he had learned of the Hanger People for quite a while though not so long as to drag this story out far more than it already has been and then said, "Bobbio, you are a very wise Hanger Person and you have taught me much but now I must return to my own land for my parents may be looking for me. Live a long and productive life, Bobbio. I bid you a fond farewell."

"Thank you greatly, small human, I too have learned much from this encounter. And may all your days be filled with joy." Bobbio said as Dennis turned to leave.

Back through the opening, back into the world Dennis called his own, Dennis returned with the bit of light that followed him. And his parents were very happy to see that their son was safe and promptly sent him to his room so that he had time to contemplate all that he had learned and how what he had learned will forever change his outlook on life.

And so they all lived happily ever after, not that they were unhappy before but they were just happy that all worked out for the best...

The End...

THE END!
