For an Altbier, this one is a bit dark in color, but I was told it still fits the category. Was good after one month but a bit sweet. After two months, the brew was beginning to get past the prime drinking period. Anyway, an easy recipe. Here goes.
Bring 8 quarts of water to 150 degrees. Add the grains and LME. Mash at 150 degrees for 60 minutes. Strain the grains and sparge with 2.5 gallons of 170 degree water. Bring this to a boil. When boiling commences, add the bittering hops. Boil for one hour. With 15 minutes left, add Irish Moss per instructions on packet. With 5 minutes left, add the aroma hops. After boil, cool to about 80 degrees and pitch the yeast.
