The experimental simulation

The procedure that through the combination technique math, organizes groups of subjects with those which is test the effect of an independent variable in relationship to an dependent variable is called experimental simulation. Below it is illustrated this procedure with an example, guided to prove the efficiency of a factor or antidote to reduce the violence.

1. Through a questionnaire is affected to the subjects with a stimulus. Subsequently through the same instrument or questionnaire is obtained response that issued the subjects before the action or stimulus that affected them. This response is called qualification of the subjects. The qualification corresponds at level or degree in which the subjects reproduce the violence or the social degradation.

2. Subsequently with the answers of the questionnaire are certified at random groups or joint, first with the lacking subject answers of the factor or antidote that reduces the violence. Is added the qualification of all the subjects and is obtained the final qualification from the group.

3. Therefore choosing individual at random they are separated some members from the previous group. These excluded subjects are replaced additionally individual bearing of the factor or antidote, also taken at random. After is added the qualification of all the subjects and is obtained other final qualification from the group.

4. Finally it is compared the qualification of each one of the two groups to observe which group reproduces less the violence. It is hoped that the group that reproduces less the violence correspond to the second, that is to say,the group that bearing subject has of the factor or antidote.

Through the combination technique math are built many groups to accomplish equal one number of times the experimental simulation, in order to calculate an efficiency average of the factor or antidote to reduce the level or degree in which the subjects reproduce the violence or the social degradation.

Example of an experimental simulation process

It is considered to prove through an example the power of an antidote to reduce the level of violence or social degradation. Further more to observe the measure or capacity of an antidote to reduce the violence or the social degradation.

- The group of control -

In the simulation of the experiment, was proceeded to certify a group of individual size (m), for example of forty (40) persons. Through a random search procedure are selected individual of the total of the sample and was certified a group of this size, but solely with individual whose filter question of the questionnaire IMES was indicating that probably they were not bearing of the antidote. The results of the test, with the IMES, showed that the forty individual registered in positive action terms a total qualification of:

103 points

When the group is formed by subject identified as possible not bearing of the factor or antidote, the forty (40) individual register in the IMES an equal qualification to 103 points.

In this group, by not to have subject with antidote, it is less probably to observe positive actions, on the other hand is more probably to observe than the subjects reproduce the violence.

Manipulation of the independent variable at an I level

- experimental Group -

Therefore to the previous homogeneous group was proceeded to affect it with an independent variable that it is the antidote. This operation consisted in separating in random form 25% from individual data that certify it, and is replaced by a same percentage but of data selected in random form of those individuals that yes are considered bearing of the antidote. Forming thus a heterogeneous group to the 25%, is proceeded then to record the qualifications of the individuals in the test of the IMES, the final adding showed that the group registers in positive action terms a total qualification of:

123 points

The foregoing indicates that in the simulation of the experiment, when 25% of the members that certify the group were possible bearing of the antidote, the positive actions total was increased in a 19,4% in relationship to the initial actions of the group of control, that is to say when there is less subject presence with antidote.

Manipulation of the independent variable at a level II

- experimental Group -

In this level of manipulation of the independent variable, was increased the presence of the antidote in the same group of 40 members in which was effected the previous manipulation. That is to say, the group that it was affected with the I level of manipulation of independent variable.

For this effect, was separated in subject random form not bearing of the antidote and are replaced additionally, selects in random form, that yes seem be bearing of the antidote, until increasing the heterogeneity of the group of the 25% to the 50% of bearers of the antidote. It is proceeded then to record the qualifications that drew the individuals in the test of the IMES.The adding showed that the group registered in positive action terms a total qualification of:

153 points

The foregoing indicates that in the simulation of the experiment, when 50% of the members that certify the group were possible bearing of the antidote, the positive actions total was increased in a 48,5% in relationship to the initial actions of the group of control, that is to say when there is less subject presence with antidote.

Manipulation of the independent variable at a level III

- experimental Group -

To the group that it was submitted at previous level ii of manipulation, was proceeded to increase the antidote.

They were separated in random form other subject indicated as not bearing of the antidote, these subjects were remaining yet in the group of size (m) equal to 40 members, and were replaced by subject bearing of the antidote, those which were selected in random form, until increasing the heterogeneity level of the group of the 50% to the 75% of bearing possible subjects of the antidote.

Then they were recorded the qualifications of the individuals in the tests of the IMES, the adding showed that the group registered in positive action terms a total qualification of:

197 points

The foregoing indicates that in the simulation of the experiment, when 75% of the members that certify the group were possible bearing of the antidote, the positive actions total was increased in a 91,2% in relationship to the initial actions of the group of control, that is to say when there is less subject presence with antidote.

It is observed that among but are added subject bearing of the antidote, the trend is to increase the positive actions in the group, and consequently is reduced the level of violence or social degradation.

In a social group, when some of the members solve be bearing of the antidote, is waited as consequence that these subjects provide positive actions to the total of acts that happen in the society reducing the violence.

The measure or capacity of an antidote to reduce the violence or the social degradation will be able to confirm through multiple simulation tests that are gone accomplishing, and thus, to consolidate a statistician that indicate the efficiency average of this antidote to reduce the violence level or of degradation of a society.

Technical details on the experimental simulation

For the experimental simulation with the one which is illustrated this study, was proceeded to form a data base with information gathered through the instrument or questionnaire IMES of 165 subject. This information makes reference at level or degree in which the subjects reproduce the violence. Of 165 tests 45% correspond to forms served by subject that probably they are not bearing of the antidote and the remainder 55% of the tests were served by subject that probably they are bearing of the antidote.

With the previous data base, with the aid of a program, and through the combination technique math, they can be simulated million of experiments with different groups. It can be for example to form in total 1e+21 combinations of groups of subjects as of data of 74 individual, selects in groups of 40 in 40. That is to say with 74 individual can be formed million of different groups of forty subject each one (though the group is differentiated alone in a subject in relationship to other group, this makes it different), in other words, in a data base of this size the number it of different groups in those which could able to do the experimental simulation, it is equal to an one (1) followed by twenty-one zeroes (0).
