About 110 kilometres north of Quito lies the beautiful little town of Otavalo. With a population of about only 20,000 this is definitely a place for tourists to visit. Saturday morning markets have become extremely popular with visitors. There's the poncho plaza where woollen goods such as sweaters, blankets, gloves, and ponchos are sold as well as embroidered skirts, blouses, and shawls. There's also a food market and an animal market. |

The people working in these markets are very friendly. We did not feel pressured into buying anything but we just had to get something for our girls. So we finally purchased three beautiful dresses. |
