Sierra Nevada

Sierra Nevada

Since we wanted to visit as much of Venezuela as we possibly could, we drove south of Puerto La Cruz, as far as El Tigre and then headed west towards El Sombrero. We first slept at Valle de la Pascua and the following day at Guanare. We really began to have a feeling for the Andes when we got near Barinas. We passed through a little village called Barinitas and then we drove towards Santo Domingo. The road is extremely scenic. Road between Barinitas and Santo Domingo .

We finally arrived at Santo Domingo and what a sight! Here the temperature was getting colder because of the altitude. We were now at 2,175 meters. In this part of Venezuela there are many streams and brooks. Moreover, the trout is just delicious. Hotels can be found in this area at very reasonable prices.
