Oni Lasana's short story about growing up in Philadelphia,  love of the music of Motown and the Uptown Theater in Philadelphia was a winner!

Oni's original short story "Rockin' & Rollin' at the Uptown Theatre" was published out of thousands of submissions for The Benjamin Franklin Autobiography Project. As one of 20 life sized posters, her story was mounted at the bus stop shelter at 20th & Walnut St. in Philadelphia to encourage reading.

For over 30 years, Oni serves as a  performing member and Creative Director with  The West Chester Community Performers a benevolent non-profit theater organization based in West Chester, PA.

With the unending support of her "Drama Mama's" Oni developed, wrote, performed and directed the play "Voices Of Dunbar."  The play features the spoken word poetry of her favorite poet, Paul Laurence Dunbar.  As a Program Director, Oni conceived and performed in "Alberta K. Johnson, Madam To You!" a fascinating readers theater production based on the Langston Hughes character.
