If you've heard of Gundam, then the series you are most likely familiar with is Gundam Wing and had seen it on Toonami on Cartoon Network. But Gundam Wing is a part of a larger universe I prefer to call Gundam. The first Gundam series came out well over a decade ago. In fact it is over two decades old. It first aired on April 7, 1979 and was simpley called Mobile Suit Gundam. In 1985, Mobile Suit Z Gundam came out. It is the largest gap between series in Gundam. After Z Gundam had come out, other Gundam series quickly followed. Many of them were great successes. The most recent Gundam series is Turn-A Gundam.

With Gundam Wing, at least, there has been several manga side stories and possible events in the period between the end of Gundam Wing and the Endless Waltz. There is also Gundam Wing manga but like any series that are in two different mediums, not everything matches up. That doesn't take away from the wonderful storyline though.

With the popularity of Gundam, many products soon came out. The Gundam model kits set new standards in the world of mecha model kits. Like most popular 'children' series, there has been several games for various video game systems. There are collectable lunch boxes, pencil cases, small tin banks, action figures and more. It even has its own CCG (Collectible Card Game).
