At Pietrelcina Padre Pio lived his infancy, adolescence, youth and the first sacerdotal ministry.

In this church Padre Pio felt the comforting presence of Jesus and of the Virgin Mary. In this church he praied isolating in the adoration and contemplation of God. And many times his prayer become an ecstatic vision and apparition of the supernatural.

Donato Calabrese was born at Benevento (Southern Italy) on 1-6-1945. After having spent his youth in "Azione Cattolica", a catholic association, since thirty years he has operated by the Apostolate of the Suffering, an Association dedicated to the human, Christian and social promotion of the ill and disabled persons. Actually Donato Calabrese has founded the Eucharistic and Marian Cenacle. Besides he is engaged to announce the evangelic messagge by mass media. For many years he has written for periodical Papers such as: "Il QUADERNO", "SANNIO OGGI", and particularly by the weekly page of "L’AVVENIRE", a catholic Paper.
After having collaborated with Radio Zero of Benevento, editing a monthly radio broadcast Program dedicated to the disabled persons, he actually collaborate with TVSETTE, a Commercial Television of Benevento where he is the director of the religious Program:”VIVERE LA SPERANZA” that means:"TO LIVE THE HOPE". And in this transmission he edited "The life of Father Pio". Besides he studied all the books published on the Great Friar of Pietrelcina.
Donato Calabrese has written the little book:”Il Rosario delle Beatitudini”, itinerary of prayer and meditation, edited by “Edizioni Paoline Editoriale libri” of Milan.
For the beatification of Father Pio Donato has published four editorials by the Magazine "Padre Pio" edited by Actor's Studio of Rome.
Besides the Rugginenti Publisher has published an Audiobook dedicated to Father Pio. The text is of Donato Calabrese. Now he has written the book: "Padre Pio di Pietrelcina, il respiro di un'anima", edited by Zonza Editori of Sestu (Cagliari).
Donato is also Author of theatrical texts that he performed by his theatrical Company too. Besides he wrote different sites by INTERNET. A site is dedicated to the life of Padre Pio di Pietrelcina. Another one is dedicated to the Apostolate of the Suffering. Donato want transmit to the people the real Soul of Padre Pio di Pietrelcina.
