The Rogues

Third Quarter 2001 Game Reports

September 22, 2001 - Barrage one day convention

Only a couple of the Rogues managed to head down to Perry, Maryland for the HAWKS one day convention called Barrage. This is the sixth year for Barrage and the second year in a row at the same location. About 75-80 people showed up and there were around 25 games played in all. There was also a small dealer and flea market area setup.

We first played in a WW2 Spearhead game, a 1941 situation with the Soviets counterattacking over-extended German forces. The Soviets advanced steadily and overran the first objective hill and then the second. Then the German reserves popped up and a battalion of armor hit a Soviet Rifle Regiment in the flank, destroying on battalion and mauling another one. The supporting Russian armor and anti-tank weapons helped halt the attack and the German tanks were destroyed after several turns of bloody combat. On the other side of the battlefield, the other two Rifle Regiments and supporting armor went head to head with two more German battalions, one of them assault engineers. The armor and its attached Rifle battalion were badly shot up and failed their morale, fleeing the field, but the other two Rifle Regiments were strong enough to force the Germans back and carry the third objetive hill.

Next we played in a G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T. Victorian Science Fiction skirmish game (don't ask me what the name means, I don't know). I had seen this played before in various settings and had wanted to try it. It's a blast!
