speed and the gush of attention is inhuman. It is beyond the capacity of anybody to absorb. It's one thing for a banker to work his way up to the point where he's making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. It's another thing to make a million-five in two years after having lived on $50 a week. ~ Peter Tork ~ |
In 1994, Peter produced (with James Lee Stanley) a solo CD Stranger Things Have Happened. Peter and James have been friends for several years. Peter was a traveling accompanist with the Phoenix singers (before The Monkees) when he and James met in Virginia Beach. They struck up a conversation that night and performed together by means of hootenanny open mic night. They stayed in touch after meeting. James gave Peter his first out of town concert, then more recently began touring together, doing a few songs together at the end of those concerts.
If you get the chance, try to see Peter with his blues band Shoe Suede Blues or with James Lee Stanley. Better yet, shoot for both if you can. Shoe Suede Blues had me dancing all night long! I have seen Peter perform with James several times. Not only will the guys keep you entertained musically, the two have a way of making you laugh. Fans were able to meet Peter, James and band members after the concerts.
Peter also did a concert with his brother Nick that I attended in Ohio. Nick wrote the song Pirates on Peter's CD Stanger Things Have Happened. He also designed the cover of the CD. Thorkelson Graphics is the name of his web site. Click on the banner below to access the site.
