Chapter 8

"Here we go one more time...Have no fear...To make you people scream"~*NSYNC, "Here We Go"

"So what do you thing about all this?" Lance asked Nadine and Josh later as they were sitting in the living room.

"I have no idea what to think," said Nadine.

"Do you think it's a consperacy or just a coincidence?" Lance asked.

"I don't know," said Josh. "I want to think it's a coincidence, but I have a feeling it's not."

"Yeah, me too," said Lance. "I think Natalie's ready to crack."

"Can you blame her? Her husband was killed," said Nadine.

"I really don't think that's what's bothering her," said Lance. "She barely seems phased by that."

"You think she's really that scared that this is coming back to haunt us?" Josh asked.

"Yeah, Natalie's stronger than that," said Nadine.

"Yeah, you're probably right," said Lance. "She's just upset about Scott." But Lance knew that wasn't the case at all.

"Hey, where are JC and Rachel?" Erica asked. It was dinner time and they were nowhere to be found.

"They went out for a walk in the woods this morning," said Chris. "They should have been back by now."

"Yeah, you'd think so," said Joey.

Natalie looked at Lance and then got up and bolted out the back door.

"What the hell was that all about?" said Joey.

"She thinks that all this is a consperacy," said Lance.

"You mean she thinks the murders are starting again?" asked Alyse.

"Yeah," said Lance. "I'm gonna go stop her, I'll be back." Lance stood up and went out the back door. He saw Natalie running across the backyard.

"Natalie!" he called running after her. She didn't stop or turn to look at him. "Natalie, stop!"

Since Natalie wasn't stopping, Lance kept running after her. Natalie wasn't a very fast runner, and Lance caught up to her right after they reached the enterence to the woods. He grabbed her from behind to stop her and then swung her around so that she was facing him.

"Have you gone crazy?" he asked her.

"You're thinking the same things that I am!" Natalie yelled.

"So what if I am?" said Lance. "Nat, this is crazy, they probably just lost track of time!"

"Lance, you always were the naive one," said Natalie. "I have a bad feeling about this whole thing. Would you rather help me look for them, or let them out here for the vultures?"

"We don't get vultures around here," said Lance.

"Have you ever had dead bodies laying around?"

"Okay, let's look," said Lance not wanting to admit that Natalie was right.

They started walking deeper into the woods.

"Nat, do you seriously think we're gonna find them?" Lance asked.

"Think about it, Lance. We're either gonna find them dead or alive."

Lance shuddered at the thought. "Can we not think about that?"

"If you can put it from your mind, sure," said Natalie. "I know I can't."

"Oh my God, there it is," said Lance pointing to the ground about 20 feet ahead of them. Just as Natalie had predicted, JC and Rachel were dead.

"I knew it," said Natalie.

"This is too creepy," said Lance.

"What are the police going to say?" Natalie asked looking scared.

"The police?"

"Yeah. We'd have to report this to the police, and at this point they're gonna be extremely suspicious."

"Maybe not..."

"Lance, are you stupid? They're police, of course they're gonna be suspicious!"

"That's not what I meant. Maybe we don't have to tell them."

"Now you've gone insane."

"Nat, 6 years ago we solved the mystery on our own. We can do it again."

"But that was fake, this is real."

"Do you want the police to be involved?"

"No," Natalie said.

"Then we have to do this," said Lance.

"Well in that case we're gonna have to hide the evidence," said Natalie.

"There's a cliff nearby that drops down into a river that goes to the gulf," said Lance.

Natalie thought about this for a second. "Let's do this!"
