Chapter 1
"Oh Mr. Postman, give me a sign. Tell me you've a letter to make me feel fine. Oh don't you know that I am waiting here for you. Tell me it will be here tonight."~B*Witched, "Oh Mr. Postman"
One spring day, Isaac Hanson and his brothers Taylor and Zac were in the back yard enjoying the sunshine. Isaac lay in the hammock reading a book, Zac was drawing on a tablet, and Taylor was simply laying in the grass with his eyes closed. Isaac wondered if he was asleep. His thought was put to rest when Taylor opened his eyes and spoke.
"Look! A bunny!"
"Where, Taylor?" asked Isaac. "There's no bunny anywhere."
"The clouds, Ike. It's in the clouds."
Isaac looked up and tried to find the bunny. "I just don't see it."
"It's all in his head," said Zac. "He's off in Taylor World. He'll be there for at lease another hour."
"I really do see a bunny. Right there," Taylor said and pointed to a large cloud.
"Oh yea," said Zac, "I see it. And there's one that looks like the president."
"Are you mocking me?"
"No. Never."
"I can't help that you have no poetic side," said Taylor.
"I have a poetic side, Tay," said Zac. "Beans, beans, good for the heart..."
"Give it up, Zac."
"Okay, okay. Not all of us can be poetic like you," said Zac.
"That's right," said Taylor.
"You guys," started Isaac. "What are we going to do all summer without a tour?"
"It's called relax, Ike. Don't you remember what it feels like?" asked Zac.
"Something like this I guess," said Isaac, "but I'm still a nervous wreck about college."
"Ike, you'll get in somewhere," said Taylor. "You're not that stupid."
"Thanks, Tay," said Isaac. "What about driving? You've had your permit for like two months now."
"Driving's hard. I probably won't have my licence until we release "Lucy" as a single."
"Hey, what's wrong with "Lucy"?" asked Zac defending his song.
"Nothig, Zac, it's just that, well, it's cheesy," said Taylor.
"It's not cheesy!"
"Yes it is, Zac," said Isaac.
"Whatever. Ike, can I come visit you at college?" asked Zac.
"Zac, what's there for you to do at a college?"
"Chicks."
"Zac, no college chicks are interested in a thirteen-year-old boy. Besides, what about Chrisstina?" asked Isaac.
"Chrissy left me. But I'm okay, I didn't let meself get too emotionally attached. We're still friends. And maybe the college chicks have younger sisters. And if you get into Penn State, we can find out where Susie from Road Rules lives and stalk her."
"Oh, Zac," said Isaac, "can't you ever think about anything besides girls?"
"Not really. Girls and food. That's about it."
"Eagle!" said Taylor.
"That's nice, Tay."
"Yo! Hey all!" said a new voice. The boys turned and saw their friend Cody enter their backyard through the gate in the tall wooden fence. Cody had been a friend of theirs since childhood, especially with Isaac since they were the same age. Cody was short, about 5'5", and he had short curly dyed blond hair. Some people said that he reminded them of Justin Timberlake from *NSYNC, but those were people who didn't know Cody very well. Once you got a good look at him, you could see that he didn't have anything in common with Justin besides the hair. Cody had dark brown eyes and wasn't athletic or musical at all. His passion was film making. He often followed his friends around with a video camera for various documentaries. His most recent project had been a spoof on The Real World that he'd done by filming seven of his friends at a sleepover. He had sent the video to the University of Wisconsin hoping to be excepted into their film deparment.
"Hey, Cody," said Isaac. "What's up?"
"Remember my Real World documentary?" asked Cody.
"Do I ever!" exclaimed Isaac. "I never thought that I'd ever get that cottage cheese out of my hair."
"Well, the U of Wisconsin loved it!" said Cody. "I got in!"
"Cody, that's great!" said Isaac.
"Yea," agreed Taylor.
"Hey, Wisconsin," started Zac. "Isn't that where Noah from Road Rules lives? Now he gets the chicks!"
"Oh, Zac!"
"And that's girls, not chicks," said the Hansons' younger sister Jessica. Jessica was ten and had just gone into a feminisim phase.
"Whatever, Jess," said Taylor. "What's up?"
"I was just bringing Isaac some mail that came."
"Put it in the box with all the other fan mail," said Isaac. "I'll read it later."
"Ike, this isn't exactly fan mail," said Jessica. "The return address in Penn State McKeesport Campus."
"Give me it!" Isaac exclaimed and snatched the letter out of his sister's hands. He frantically tore the envelope open and anxiously read the letter while everyone watched him.
"Well?" asked Taylor.
"I got in!" screamed Isaac.
