Chapter 13

"I'm gonna make a mistake, I'm gonna do it on purpose. I'm gonna waste my time. Cuz I'm full as a tick, ans I'm scratching at the surface, and what I find is mine...All the advice I've shunned, and I ran where they told me not to run...I'm gonna f*** it up again, I'm gonna do another detour...I've acquired a taste for a well-made mistake..."~Fiona Apple, "A Mistake"

"What?" asked Fiona.

"I've been cheating on Katie. Please don't tell her," said Taylor.

"Okay, I won't, but please tell me the whole story."

"Well, okay. In Tulsa there was this girl named Reva. We were going out,and we were pretty serious. I guess I never gave Katie a second thought because I thought I'd never see her again. But then, you know. And I had to make a decision because Isaac was nugging me, and I decided on Katie, and now Reva's really mad, and I don't know what to do," Taylor finished and burst into tears.

"Oh, Taylor, it's okay," Fiona said and put her arm around him. "It'll all word itself out."

"I hope so," said Taylor. "I sure hope so."

Reva watched what was happening in the dorm room with intensity. Katie had just put her arm around Taylor, and he appeared to be crying. "Cry, Taylor, cry all you want," Reva thought. "This is nothing compared to how hard you'll be crying when I get done here."

~*~*~

"Why don't you go into the bathroom and splash some cold water on your face," said Fiona. "It'll make you feel better."

"Okay," said Taylor. "I haveta pee anyway." He get up and left the room.

~*~*~

Reva saw Taylor leave the room. This was her chance. She slid open the patio door quietly and with the greatest of ease. It was unlocked. She snickered to herself. Isaac had always been stupid. He'd never think to lock it. Reva was so quiet that Katie didn't even stir from her position on the couch.

"Hello, Katie," said Reva, and Katie jumped in surprise.

"I'm not Katie. Who are you?"

"Don't try to pull that crap on me, I know who you are."

"No, I'm serious, I'm not Katie. My name's Fi..."

"You play me for a fool," Reva cut her off. "You're the ignorant little slut who tried to steal my boyfriend."

"Reva," whispered the girl, finally realizing who the stranger was.

"And you better know it. Because I'm gonna be having a big impact on your life. Or should I saw, death?" Reva said as she pulled out a knife.

"Look, Reva, I'm not Katie. Katie's not here. I'm Katie's best friend Fiona. You're making a big mistake."

"I'm making no mistake. I saw you and Taylor sitting on the couch hugging. If tou weren't Katie, why would you bo doing that?"

"Taylor is my friend! I'm allowed to hug him! And we weren't even hugging, I just had my arm around him to make him feel better."

"About what?"

"You as a matter of fact."

"Me?"

"Yes, you."

"Why? He dumped me. He ended the relationship. He shouldn't be hurting. It was his decision. If anyone should be hurting it should me me! But I'm not hurting. I'm stronger than ever, There's no stopping me. I came to get my revenge and I intend to get it."

"He still loved you, Reva."

"You're lying. Why would he admit that to his girlfriend?"

"Because I'm not his girlfriend! I'm not Katie!"

"Prove it."

"I can't! What do you need, ID or something? You're sick. There's something worng with you."

"There is nothing wrong with me!" Reva said in a rage.

"Fiona, what's going on in there?" Taylor called from the bathroom.

"See? He called me Fiona."

"Fiona? What's wrong?" Taylor called again.

Reva held the knife to Fiona's neck. "Tell him there's nothing wrong!" she hissed.

"Nothing, Tay," Fiona called. "Everything's fine!"

"That's a good girl," said Reva lowering the knife. "Now, are you going to admit that you're Katie?"

"No because I'm NOT KATIE!!!"

"Don't for a second think that I'm gonna believe that crap. You're Katie and you're gonna get what's coming to Katie," Reva said as she lunged at Fiona with the knife. Fiona managed to dodge Reva's first attempt, and the knife went into one of the chairs.

Reva retalliated quickly and lunged at Fiona again. Fiona wasn't so lucky this time, and the knife plunged into Fiona's stomach. Fiona fell backwards onto the couch and laid there not moving. As soon as Fiona hit the couch, the toilet could be heard flushing, and Taylor emerged from the bathroom.

The first thing Taylor saw when he got into the living room was Fiona laying on the couch with the knife sticking out of her stomach.

"What the...?" he gasped, and then he saw Reva opening the porch door. "Reva, what the heck is this?"

"What does it look like it is?" Reva said sarcastically. "It's your dead girlfriend."

"It would be, but this sorta ISN'T MY GIRLFRIEND!!!"

A sheepish look crossed Reva's face. "Oh," she said and slid out the door. Taylor saw her jump over the porch raining. Curious as to whether or not she'd land safely, (not that he cared, but...), Taylor went onto the porch and looked down. He was suprised to see Reva, not even harmed, running away from the dorm. Feeling helpless, Taylor went back inside and called an ambulance. After he hung up the phone, Isaac and Katie came home with the pizza.

"Tay, we're back!" called Isaac. Then he saw Taylor standing by the phone with a scared expression on his face. "What's wrong?" Isaac asked. Taylor simply motioned to the couch. Isaac and Katie walked over to the couch and looked at Fiona's dead body.

"I think I'm gonna be sick," said Katie running to the bathroom.

"Tay, what..how...explain," said Isaac.

"I don't know what happened. I was in the bathroom. I guess someone just came in and killed her."

"You didn't see who?"

Taylor was silent for a moment. "No, I was in the bathroom."
