Chapter 14
"It's two in the morning. I'll tell you why I'm awake. There it goes, that creepy feeling again, 'round in my head...Here in the darkness, oh there's so many shades. Shadows burn like faded flames and die into the night...and fly up so high. Are you a ghost? Or are you alive? Would you be here for me, be here for me now?...Cool wind is blowing, fingers through hair. Standing in an empty room alone, it feels like you're there...I know that you're there."~B*Witched, "Are You A Ghost?"
Fiona's funeral was five days later. Katie asked Isaac, Taylor, and Zac to play "With You In Your dreams at the funeral, but that refused because that's what happens in every single fanfic where the girl dies and it's not gonna happen in this one!!!
But Katie was very desperate to make Fiona's funeral special, so she asked Justin if he and the rest of *NSYNC would sing "I Want You Back."
"But Katie," Justin said. "That song ain't be about people dying yo!"
"I know," said Katie. "But the title sorta fits. Please, Justin!"
"Don't you think that song be sorta too happy for a funeral?"
"Well, yeah, but that's okay. I'm sure no one will mind."
"I dunno, Katie," said Justin still considering it.
"Your mom and Britney can come too."
"Okay!" said Justin. "This is gonna be fly!"
So the next day the other members of *NSYNC flew in, even though they still weren't too sure how appropraite this was. Justin's mom and Britney flew in also.
Fiona's dad asked Isaac to be a palbear at the funeral. Isaac didn't really know what to think, so he said yes. He figured that it was the least that he could do, since he really couldn't bring her back like he wanted to. He just wished that he could have said a proper goodbye to her. And he wished that he knew who had killed her, and why.

Taylor was going through a great emotional turmoil. He was sick with the guilt of knowing what Reva did. And what made it worse was that he was the only one who knew, except for Fiona and Reva of course. And since Fiona was, well, ya know, and Reva was Reva this really didn't help Taylor any.
He just didn't know that to do. He didn't know whether to turn Reva in or not. Well, of course he knew that he should turn Reva in, but he really didn't think that would do any good. Reva was a smart girl. She was probably in Maine, or Mexico, or even Madrid by now, and she had probably dyed her hair and done everything that she could to disguise herself.
And furthermore, Taylor was scared to turn Reva in. He knew the police would be eternally grateful to him since they had come up with pretty much nothing on the case, but the police weren't who he was scared of. He was scared of Reva. He knew how powerful and revengeful Reva was, and if she could do this just because someone stole her boyfriend, he didn't even want to think about what she was capeable of doing to someone who got her arrested or worse. The one thing he knew for sure was that if he told and Reva foind out, he'd suffer a fate far worse than death. Far worse...

The day of the funeral came, and Isaac and his brothers dressed in their suits and ties and went to the church. The ceremony went very slow for Isaac, and if he has to be honest with himself, he doesn't really remember very much of it. The only thing that he clearly remembered was *NSYNC's performance. How could he, or anyone else for that matter, forget five guys in suits singing and dancing to a uptempo pop song at the funeral for a murder victim? Justin and his bandmates definately got their fair share of dirty looks that night.
After the funeral mass in the church and the burrial ceremony at the graveyard, which it of course rained during, they all attended the luncheon that was hosted by Fiona's parents. As Isaac recalls it, chicken was served, or maybe it was pork. As far as he knew it could have been sushi because he didn't really eat very much of whatever it was.
Gathering from what little Isaac does remember about that day and what other people have recalled, Isaac spent most of the luncheon sitting in a chair in Fiona's den starng at the painting of a herd of wild ponies running free across the plains. He must have stared at that painting for hours. It wasn't even that interesting of a painting, but he just stared and stared. A few times one of Fiona's relatives came in and said a few words to him, but he probably wasn't the most sociable person to talk to that day, so they always left after the conversation died, which was usually so short of a time peroid that it wasn't even worth their effort to sit down.
After the ponies finally got boring, Isaac started wandering around the house. He had never been in Fiona's house before, so he didn't really know where he was going. Somehow, he ended up in Fiona's bedroom.
He sitll has no idea how he got there, but he's sure glad he did. He didn't really know what to expect, so he just looked around the room, taking everything in. Fiona had decorated the room with posters of bands and vintage types of items such as a lava lamp, old fashioned metal signs, a seashell mobile, and other things of that sort.
At this point, Isaac really wasn't thinking too logically. He knew that he probably shouldn't have done it, but he couldn't resist the urge to go through some of her drawers.
The first drawer that he opened was the top drawer of her dresser. In that drawer were shirts folded in two stacks. He started going through the shirts. Most of them were either shirts sporting the logo of various bands or skater shirts.
As he was going from a My Little Pony shirt to a Limp Bizkit shirt, Isaac's hand touched something with a hard cover. He pulled it out and discovered that it was a silver notebook with a purple design on it. From apperance, Isaac guessed that this was Fiona's journal.
Again, Isaac knew better, but he opened the book without thinking and started reading the words that she had recorded in her loopy handwriting.
After reading a few pages, he got tired of standng, laid down on her bed, and continued reading. Her bed was so comfortable, and somehow it reminded Isaac of her. Before he knew it, he had fallen asleep...

Taylor had left the funeral early, telling Zac that he had a stomach ache. The truth was that the guilt and the voices in his head were driving him crazy. Fiona's house wasn't far from Isaac's dorm, so Taylor just walked back and let himself in.
When he got in the room, Taylor laid down on the couch, the very couch Fiona had died on. He started at the celing for the longest time, just worrying about Reva and what she'd do. To say the least, he was scared of what she'd do.
"Taylor," he heard a voice calling. The voice was soft and sweet, like that of an angel.
"Who's there?" he said and sat up, startled.
"It's me, Taylor," said the voice.
"There's no one here. Who are you?"
"Close your eyes," commanded the voice. Taylor did as he was told. "What do you see?"
"The inside of my eyelids."
"Look harder."
Taylor was pretty scared at this point because he still had no idea where the voice was coming from, but he obliged. The more he tried, the blackness that he was seeing started changing. He started seeing purple and blue and silver clouds. And then the clouds started taking the chape of a human, a girl. And the more Taylor watched the clouds, the clearer the image became.
"Fiona," he whispered softly.
"Yes, Taylor. It's me."
"What's going on?"
"I came to help you."
"How are you going to do that? You're dead."
"When you die, you have many more powers than when you're living. I come bearing good news."
"Good," said Taylor. "I could use some of that. Is it about Reva?"
"Yes. Don't fear, Taylor. You don't have to tell anyone about Reva. And don't worry, she's not going to come after you. She's going to get what's coming to her."
"How do you know this?"
"Being in Heaven has its perks. Just remember, you get what you put in, and people get what they deserve."
"Fiona, that's a Kid Rock song."
"I know. But Reva will get what she deserves. I must go now. Your brother needs me."
"Isaac?"
"Yes, Isaac. He needs to see me again."
"You mean you can't come down from up there all the time like this?"
"No. I can't abuse my priveleges. You two needed me right now, so I came. But now I must go again."
"Fiona, Isaac needs you all the time."
"No he doesn't. Good things will come to him in the future. He may feel like he needs me with him, but he'll survive. I hope I've helped you, Taylor."
"Yes, you have. Thank you."
"Good bye, Taylor. And remember, you get what you put in, and people get what they deserve." With those words, Fiona's image faded from Taylor's mind.

"Isaac," Fiona called.
Isaac rolled over in Fiona's bed. "Hmmm..." he mumbeled, still asleep.
"Isaac, can you hear me?"
"Yes," he answered, talking in his sleep, but now more alert.
"Isaac, it's me."
"Fiona?"
"Yes."
"Baby, what's going on?"
"I came to say goodbye."
"Can't you stay for good?"
"No, I'm sorry. I can't."
"I can't live without you, Fiona."
"Isaac, yes you can. You have to."
"But you're here now. Can't you just stay forever?"
Fiona chckled to herself. "No. But don't worry, everything will work out."
"How?"
"It just will. Trust me. You'll find someone else."
"No I won't, Fiona, no I won't!"
"Yes you will, Isaac. I can see it in the future. You'll find someone who's perfect for you, and you'll spend the rest of your life with her in bliss."
"But she won't be you, will she?"
"No, I'm afraid not."
"Then who will she be?"
"I can't tell you. That's something you'll learn as time goes on. But when the time comes, you will know it."
"Fiona, don't leave me."
"I must. Good bye, Isaac."
"Fiona, no!!!"
"I must go. Good bye."
"No, Fiona, no!!!" Isaac screamed waking up from his sleep, but she was gone, forever this time.
