Chapter 6

"Went into the world, what a revelation."~The Spice Girls, "Goodbye"

Summer had come and gone, and the time had come for Isaac to pack his bags and leave Tulsa for McKeesport, Pennsylvania. On his last night in Tulsa, his brothers threw him a going away party. Cody, Cody's girlfriend Rachel, and all their other friends were there. The party was in full swing with Matchbox 20 playing on the stero and people dancing and talking everywhere when Taylor's new girlfriend Reva came in.

Reva wasn't part of their normal crowd of friends, and her enterence silenced the entire room. Fop the first time all night, Rob Thomas's voice could clearly be heard as he sang out, "Everyone here knows everyone here is thinking about somebody else." Taylor thought about the appropraitness of that lyric since he knew that everyone's attention was focused on Reva.

"Aren't you going to welcome me, Taylor?" asked Reva in a snobby tone.

"Hello, Reva," said Taylor. "Welcome to the party."

Reva went to a different school than most of the kids in Tulsa. She attended an expensive private school, and she had certainly adapted to its posh atmosphere. Reva was tall with very dark brown hair and green eyes. She always dressed in tight fitting, sophisticated clothing, and tonight she was wearing black flares and a white tube top. To most people, Reva was a rich brat who thought she was too good for everyone. In ways, she was, but Taylor somehow didn't perceive her that way. Taylor and Reva were very close and told each other whatever was on their minds.

But Reva didn't know about Katie, whom Taylor was still dating.

"There's nothing to see here, people, go back to your own business," said Reva and again Matchbox 20 was drowned out by the partying teenagers.

"Reva, you look beautiful," Taylor said and gave her a kiss on her hand.

"Don't I always?" Reva replied, only half joking, but she laughed anyway.

"Well, Reva, hi," said Isaac joining them. "I didn't even see you come in," he said sarcastically.

"Hello, Isaac," said Reva not realizing that Isaac's remark was intended to be sarcastic. "Congrats on the college thing. I can't wait until I go to college. It just seems so...me. Sipping lattes in Starbucks all day, what a life!"

"You know, Reva, there are things in college other than coffe shops," said Isaac.

"Oh, Isaac, I know that," said Reva. "There's parties like every night too."

"Well, Reva, I'm sure with your charming personality that you'll be invited to plenty of them," Isaac said sarcastically.

"Um, Ike, can I talk to you for a second?" asked Taylor.

"Sure, Tay, shoot," said Isaac.

"In private," said Taylor.

"Why, Taylor, there's nothing that you can tell Isaac that you can't tell me," said Reva.

"It's not that, Reva, it's just that I have to ask Isaac something personal and I don't know if he wants you to hear it."

"Okay then. Hurry back, Taylor."

Isaac and Taylor went into one of the corners.

"Ike, please be nice to Reva," begged Taylor.

"Tay, she's a brat."

"Ike, you don't know her like I do."

"Have you told her about Katie yet?

"Ike, that's not the point right now."

"Who cares? Have you told her?"

"Not exactly, but I will."

"Whatever, Tay. You gotta tell her."

"I will. Just try to be decent, okay?"

"I'll try."

"Thanks, Ike!"

"Whatever."

Taylor went back to Reva, and Isaac started mingling with everyone. After awhile, he saw Zac making out with his ex~girlfriend Chrissy. Maybe they got back together, thought Isaac.

Just then there was a knock on the door, and Walker came into the room.

"Ike, we gotta leave for the airport in five minutes. Say goodbye to everyone," said Walker.

"Okay, thanks, Dad," said Isaac. "Well, everyone, I just wanna say that I'm gonna miss all of you. I'm going into the real world now, and this time it's not just Cody's video.

Everyone laughed because they had seen the film and knew exactly what he was talking about. Everyone but Reva that is who sat on the couch with a confused expression on her face.

"Bye everyone!" said Isaac.

"I'm comin to the airport with you," said Taylor.

"Me too," said Cody.

"I am too," said Quinne, Isaac's best girl friend.

"Zac, you comin?" asked Isaac.

"Nah, someone gotta stay and keep things in order," replied Zac.

"And you can do that while making out with Chrissy? asked Isaac jokingly, and Zac's face turned red.

"Bye, Ike," Zac said trying to pretend he wasn't embarrased.

"Bye, Zac."

Isaac, Taylor, Cody, and Quinne walked up the stairs from the basement and got into the Hanson's van to drive to the airport.

They got to the airport and checked the TV screens for delays. Isaac's flight wasn't delayed, but they still had a decent wait and decided to get something to eat at Au Bon Pain. When they were done eating, they went to Isaac's gait to say goodbye.

"Son," started Walker, "good luck. And don't do anything stupid."

"Okay, Dad, I won't. Bye!"

Cody was next.

"Bye Ike," he said.

"Bye, Cody," said Isaac. "God luck at film school."

"Thanks, but without you guys who am I gonna use as my subjects?"

"I dunno. Take care, man."

"You too."

"Now boarding flight 223 to Pittsburgh," said the voice on the intercom. That was Isaac's flight.

"Bye, Ike," said Taylor.

"See ya, Tay," said Isaac. "And tell Reva!"

"I will. She won't like it though."

"It's not like you're ever gonna see Katie again. She'll understand."

"Whatever. Bye."

Quinne was last.

"I'll miss you, girl," said Isaac.

"I'll miss you too," she replied. "Ike, there's something I've wanted to tell you for a long time."

"Last call for flight 223 to Pittsburgh," said the terminal worker over the loud spealer looking directly at Isaac.

"E~mail me, Quinne. I gotta run. Bye," said Isaac running through the gate.

"I love you," whispered Quinne. Now he would never know how she really felt...
