The Poetry of...

JayJay

Sunset over the Pyrenees

With a thought-provoking frankness, JayJay sees the Earth from all sides and yet through the expressions beams more than an underlying ray of optimism. He sees the world - and life - for its true and natural beauty. This may be connected to his escapism travelling, as he tells PP:
"When I cycle, I feel good and at one with myself and the world. My dream is to cycle to the Pyrenees and explore, and also to see as much of Earth as possible on my modern pony."
Feeling trapped in a concrete London, he hopes to one day "head for the hills" - yet his poetry seemingly has already.

His natural-sounding poetry stems from a natural way with words which wouldn't leave him even if he wanted them too!:
"I began writing poetry by accident. Words bounced around in my head and one evening sitting quietly got pen and paper and began jotting the words down. Sometimes the whole poem, sometimes one line or one word bounces around in my head. It is only when they are plucked that they become poems."

Poetry is all about communication, and here JayJay's worldliness shines through. Speaking English, French, Spanish and Portuguese, this is "a great asset for communicating and travelling on the Earth. I am inspired by all aspects of the Natural World and the value systems, wisdom and knowledge of First Nations around the world."

With a joint poetry-showcasing website venture in progress www.rob.00go.com with another Paramount Poet, Robert Parker-Munn, the future is bright -
"We want people to be able to view our work; the Internet is the future, so thank you Paramount..."

OPEN-MINDED

In one instance we are students
with open minds
we become teachers.

In one instance we are different
with open minds
we become equal.

In one instance we are takers
with open minds
we become givers.

A PATHWAY TO BALANCE

Draw down your weapons
and seek Peace.
Draw down your oppressors
and seek Justice.
Draw down your hatred
and seek Love.
Draw down your ignorance
and seek Understanding.
Draw down your divisions
and seek Unity.
Draw down your greed
and seek Equality.
Draw down your anger
and seek Compassion.

IS IT EARTH BEAUTY OR EARTH CRISIS?

IS IT EARTH BEAUTY?...
Living in Harmony as one Human Family.
Living in Harmony with all Life.
Living in Harmony on Mother Earth.
Living with Justice, Freedom, Equality, Love.
Living with Co-operation and Compassion.

OR IS IT EARTH CRISIS?...
Spending time in Wars and Quarrels.
Spending time Killing Life.
Spending time Polluting and Destroying.
Spending it looking out for NUMBER ONE.
Spending it Competing and Oppressing.
Grabbing all for just yourself.

IT IS UP TO YOU
TO MAKE YOUR CHOICE
SO THINK WELL
AND LIVE YOUR DECISION?!

SEASONAL CIRCLE

SPRING
and a new beginning
new life is taking hold
a time for
renewed hopes and ideas.

SUMMER
and a busy world
an explosion of life and activity
a time for
being positive and strong.

AUTUMN
and a last chance
life is fading away
a time for harvesting and resolving.

WINTER
and a silent world
life sleeps with the cold
a time for
reflecting and dreaming.

And then once again to Spring!
May the Circle never break!
May the Circle never end!

LOOKING OUTSIDE MY WINDOW

Looking outside my window
I see a Blue Jay
true friend to the Oak

For awhile now
they pay visits to the garden
sometimes one,
and sometimes two...
First a flash of colour
and then a chorus of screeches!

Always on the go
never in one place for long
only stopping for food,
a drink of water,
or just to have a rest
and suddenly a flash of colour
with a chorus of screeches!

Looking outside my window
I see a Blue Jay
always unexpected
but I am always pleased
‘cos then I realise life ain’t all bad!

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

I pledge Allegiance
TO MOTHER EARTH
TO THE NATURAL WORLD
TO THE NATURAL FORCES

I pledge Allegiance
TO ALL HUMAN BEINGS
TO ALL LIFE
THAT SHARE THE EARTH

I PLEDGE TO WALK
WITH A GENTLE HEART
I PLEDGE TO WALK
WITH A CARING HEART
