Dear Mr. Barrett,
Ben is truly a wonderful dog. He is very much the protector, while remaining so gentle with small children and animals. At 175 lbs, his size alone is a very good deterrent. I guess my only problem is his desire to roam. It is for that reason, I have had to spent over a thousand dollars on putting up a woven wire fence around my property. Now, that he has hit puberty, he really wants to get out with the lady dogs, especially the neighbors Labrador Retriever. I would gladly build the fence again for my love and appreciation of Ben.
Last year, there was a wolf in the surrounding area. I assume that it was one of the ones that the NC government had turned loose, trying to restock the critters in the wild. My parents say that they saw it once, browsing near the chicken coop, early one morning. I took Ben over to their house to stay for a couple of weeks. The day after he arrived at my parents, one of their neighbor's small dogs was killed by the wolf. How do we know it was the wolf that had eaten the dog? The little dog was found later that day, half eaten. After that, My mother and father never saw the wolf again, and the chickens quit slowly disappearing at night the day Ben arrived.
The final few pictures are from, earlier this February. Sorry, I didn't have my camera set-up to place the time/date stamp on the pix. Needless to say, I love Ben. He is a great companion as well. Hope to see you sometime.
Bye now,
Heath-n-Oum Inman
