Sightings of Biglake's Rare Pink Dolphin Email us and tell us where you saw the dolphin and show us your photos! Some call her (him??) Pinkie, but I like to call her Pepto, because that's exactly the color she is. We first heard rumors of a pink dolphin in Biglake in the Spring of '07, and then Capt Erik Rue snapped the first photos and we knew she was real! An albino, her skin actually has no pigment, but appears to be pink because of capillaries seen under the transparent skin. Albinos usually have a short life span because they stand out for predators, but this one seems to be thriving! Photos take by Rob Lelewski & Taylor Newton on July 26, 2009 by the 56 mile marker. Copyright, 2009. Use by permission only. June, 2009. We saw her several days in a row by the 56 mile marker. Sometimes she was with her mother, other times alone or with the pod. Our son, John and his girlfriend, Monica, and our daughter Jennifer, her husband Jake and our grandsons Jarrett and Gavin were with us to see them. -Sharon & Doug Newton.
