Big Lake, a 40,000 acre bay which opens into the Gulf of Mexico is located in Cameron Parish, and easily lives up to the name Sportsman Paradise with its excellent fishing, crabbing, and shrimping. Known for its tremendous trout, if you are looking for a trophy wallhanger, this is the place to be! Redfish, flounder and many other species are also plentiful.
Located in the southwest corner of Louisiana, it is easily accessible ( see map and driving directions ) from all directions.

Tell EPA to Deny Waiver Petition to Allow E15
EPA Should Not Allow Increased Ethanol Blends:
from NMMA
On March 6, 2009, a new pro-ethanol lobbying organization called Growth Energy and 54 ethanol manufacturers formally requested that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) increase ethanol blend levels in gasoline up to 15 percent (E15). As is required by law, EPA on April 21 published a Notice for Comment in the Federal Register, beginning a 30-day public comment period. On May 15, EPA extended the comment period. The original public comment period was slated to end on May 21, 2009 but will now be extended to July 20, 2009.
Ethanol Advocates are mobilizing their forces to submit 20,000 favorable comments to EPA requesting that the Agency grant a waiver for E15.
There are 18 million boats currently in operation in the U.S., and none of them has been designed, certified or warrantied to run on anything above E10, the current maximum legal blend level. Boaters know very well that increased ethanol blends will cause performance problems with their boats and engines, increase maintenance costs, potentially pose safety risks and increase air pollution. E15 will also void manufacturer warranties.

The 4th of July at Big Lake !!
The 3rd Annual Big Lake Trout "Speck"tacular was a huge success.
The winners of this year's event are:
Adult Division: John Solari 5.68 lb. Trout
Youth Division: Phillip Rue 5.72 lb. Redfish
This year the proceeds went to Catch a Dream. Catch-A-Dream grants once-in-a-lifetime outdoor experiences to children 18 years old or younger who have a life-threatening illness. Brennan and Rene Freeland did a fantastic job organizing the tournament, and with entry fees and the silent and live auctions raised over $16,000. Well done Brennan and Rene!
