Tips And Sayings Of The Day For Hunting   2A

*****2013 Combined (deer/elk) (2nd Rifle Season) Oct. 19-27*****

We did not get an elk. Rick saw seven cows and both of us saw Mule Deer.
I got a confidence booster when I made a dead on
340 yard shot on a rock.
We hunted from Oct 19th to Oct 25th.

It was hot and sunny every day and the moon shined bright (real bright). Ya can't control mother nature.
There were elk tracks everywhere. But they were apparently moving at night.
Plus, with the heat, they must have stayed hidden in the pines on the non-sun side of
the mountains. The pines where very tough to be in and ya couldn't see far.

This bedding Mule Deer was maybe 20 yards off the trail. It just laid there
while we whispered and took pictures.

Over-the-Counter Licenses Link
General over-the-counter (OTC) big game and turkey licenses, as well as over-the-counter
with cap licenses, are available for purchase through the
internet, telephone (800-244-5613),
license agents and Parks and Wildlife offices.

Over-the-counter with cap licenses are sold for archery, muzzle-loading and rifle bear, as well
as some units for rifle elk. During the sale, the
OTC Cap License List will be updated every
15 minutes in an effort to continually inform hunters and license agents how many are left during the rush.

Please be sure to check season participation requirements for over-the-counter with cap bear
licenses on page 52 of the
2012-2013 Big Game brochure. OTC maps are available on the
Big Game Brochures page. For further information, contact a CPW Hunt Planner at (303) 297-1192.
