Happy Labor Day everyone!  Today is the day minimum-wage workers have to work extra shifts to make sure wealthy people have a nice vacation!  I remember dreading Labor Day and other such holidays while working in the service (ice cream) industry.  All the relaxing families would swamp the store and create hell for us kids just trying to scrape by and save for college.  Since it’s a nationally celebrated holiday we weren't paid extra, of course.

So next time there's a holiday coming up, this is what I recommend: buy everything in advance.  You can buy your groceries, party supplies, grill equipment, whatever a week or so in advance!  It's not that difficult, really.  Speaking of small steps, how many incandescent light bulbs have you replaced with CFL?  Hmmm?

Anyway, almost forgot to tell about my trip.  Went to San Francisco.  It was awesome.  A bit of a drive.  But still really fun.  Site updated regularly, as always.  Well, that's about all the Internet needs to know about my trip.

Fixed some lingering site glitches… mostly pertaining to Internet Explorer.  Really, I never thought I could have disdain for IE until I had to cater to its whims.  Do us and yourself a favor.  Download Firefox.

Hey, have you seen the awesomeness of redrawn comics?  They are amazing!!  Ten times better looking than what was up before.  If you haven't been checking them out, I really recommend it.  I've been changing the jokes on some of them, so it's like there are new comics.  Also, I've added a few small quasi-inside jokes to a few of the comics.  You'd have to look for them, but they are there (Hint, look at the backgrounds, eh?).  I've been really working hard to get them all done, and my hands are starting to get sore.  Such is the life of a cartoonist I suppose.

Also, I've been having a bit of a small glitch it seems with the comic on the home page.  About half the time it isn't centered, but if I refresh it becomes centered (which is really weird!).  A CSS tag should have always kept it centered.  Cheating a bit, I decided to add a "center" HTML tag.  Now, this baby should keep centered; it's got CSS and HTML telling it "CENTER, DAMN YOU".  But dual causality is not enough, it seems, and it still appears off-center around 1/3 of the time.  If anyone can figure out why, and how to fix it, you will earn my eternal appreciation.

I took a few days off from working on the redraws (it get tedious after awhile) but I'm back on track now!  I figure that by the middle of next month, I should be finished.  Then I can devote my attention to game design, schoolwork and bicycling.  Lately I've been doing a small website project for a family member.  Once it's finished, I promise to link it up, so you can check it out if you want to.

On another note, I recently got an interesting scam email.  I'll let you all in on the story once it has completely unfolded (or if it doesn't unfold).  I hope that they will be as cooperative as some of the scammers on sites like 419eater.com.

Just thought I'd let you know that because I was displeased with some of my old comics, I decided to change them!  There are basically brand-new comics hidden among the old ones!  I've toyed with the wording on a few others (not listed here) and I've also made a few even subtler changes to the comics.  But I'll talk about the subtler changes next month, after I'm done with all this work.  In case you didn't feel like an Easter-egg hunt, here are seven (7) links to the changed comics:

Snowmen live
for too
short of days

Picky snowwomen
rant and rave

Only 'bout the ones
who use Burma Shave

Well, exciting times for me!  School is starting up, apartments have been moved into and textbooks are being bought.  I haven't had much time to work on the site, but that's alright because I'll work on it again soon enough.  I anticipated this flurry of errands and drew out a few comics in advance (woo!).

I have recently been overcome with disappointment and sadness.  I entered a photograph into a T-shirt contest for one of my favorite other comic sites, Toothpastefordinner.com, and I didn't even get on the honorable mentions page, how sad!  Here is my photo:

Click for an even larger image.  It is referencing a blog the author made awhile back advising us to mail our complaints to that address using a self-addressed, stamped envelope.  I thought it was cute enough to at least merit an honorable mention.  Eternal hellfire for you Toothpastefordinner.com, for you have scorned me.
