PGSM - Act Twenty-One

Kunzite appears amidst a flurry of black rose petals and resists Mercury Aqua Mist. He tells her that from now on, she belongs to him and he blasts her with dark purple fog. Her head falls forward and she collapses.

In the next scene, she's back at Crown, knitting again. She fades out, with her voice over: Everyone is going their separate ways, but she believes they will come back together soon.
It flashes through the other three and then a blurred image of them walking along together.

Luna's eyes pop open as she wakes up, surprised to find that Ami is gone
Back on the street, flower petals drift away.

Makoto is haunted by the memory of Usagi finding out about Mamoru's engagement. She feels terrible. She should have told Usagi.
The next day, Shingo tries to wake up Usagi, but she won't get out of bed. She's so depressed.
Makoto comes by to visit and gets greeted by a very cheerful Usagi's mother. She says that Usagi has a cold and won't be going to school. Then she pulls Makoto inside to eat breakfast. There's a slight tug of war over Makoto's arm.

Once she escapes from Usagi's mother, Makoto ponders the situation. The worst part of this is that Mamoru is Tuxedo Kamen. In flash-back style it shows a conversation she had with him. She accuses him of trying to get close to Usagi so he can keep tabs on the senshi.
Tux doesn't deny it. He's after more information on the Mystical Silver Crystal and the princess.
So, since it seems that he's just using Usagi, Makoto punches him out and warns him to stay away from Usagi.
As she remembers this she decides she should have hit him more than once. And she demonstrates what she wanted to do to him to the air as she walks along.

Minako is on the phone, dealing with her Idol business in her new place when Artemis tells her that he's worried.

Kunzite has a blue flower, which he gazes at proudly.

Makoto finally makes it to school. She's surprised to see that Ami's desk is empty. Naru confirms it, Ami hasn't come to school today.
So Makoto hurries off to Ami's house. The doorbell rings through her empty apartment. She tries the door, and finds that it's unlocked, so she slowly enters to see Ami curled up in bed.
Ami's mother isn't home, and she's been home sick all alone.

So Makoto stays with her to take care of her. And being Makoto, she starts cooking for her. She's not sure if Ami likes green onions or not.
It seems she does, because she eats all of the food Makoto makes.
She asks if Ami wants anything else, and Ami responds: "I want to go to an amusement park"

The next scene has Makoto and Ami on a roller coaster. Makoto asks Ami if she's sure she's alright. Actually she asks "Are you sure you're alriiiiiiiiight?" as they go down the hill.
They go on ride after ride, until Makoto is all tired out.
Ami buys a green and blue balloon. The green one is from Makoto.

Next up is the merry go round. While Ami rides it, Makoto hears someone call her name.
It's Motoki, still wearing the scarf that she gave him. He was taking his turtle for a walk in a cute little box.
Makoto glances back to the merry-go-round to see that Ami has passed out.
Motoki takes the two girls to the hospital in his green bug of a car.
He tells Makoto that he really likes the scarf she made him - it was the only valentine he got.

At the hospital, the doctors can't find anything wrong with her, but they'll keep an eye on her. Makoto thinks about telling Usagi and Rei, but decides against it.
Rei is pondering what happened with all of the illusions. What is the enemy after?

Usagi is still starting at her scarf. Luna tells her to get some fresh air, but she doesn't want to. Her brother comes in with a treat for her, which cheers her up a bit, until she remembers when she gave one to Mamoru.
No. she tells herself, I have to cheer up. And she starts eating.

Mamoru throws his Tux outfit down on the couch, remembering his encounter with Makoto. Then he flops down. He was acting like he was protecting her, but really, was it all just an excuse to get close to her?
One more month, he says as he looks at an acceptance letter to a college in London.

Back at the hospital, Makoto is waiting anxiously. Motoki gets her some coffee or tea or something while she's waiting. He hasn't left. In an attempt to cheer her up he says that Kamekichi says Ami will get better - and Kamekichi is always right.
He's rewarded with a giggle and a smile from her.
Unfortunately, he has to head off to work, but before he goes, he gives her a magazine and an assortment of snacks in various bags and boxes. He's somehow keeping all of this in his pockets.
He stands there for a minute longer before finally leaving. And then he comes back, he nearly forgot his turtle.
Behind Makoto, dark flower petals drift to the floor.

In the Dark Kingdom, Beryl asks Kunzite the status of his new project. He says that it's almost finished. His project is so awesome that Beryl will have to work hard to come up with some way to thank him.
Once again she asks what he is after, if it isn't her favor. He replies that he wants to resurrect Queen Metallica. She dismisses him and he heads off.
Nephrite is worried that Kunzite is plotting against Beryl, but Beryl thinks he's up to more than that.
Kunzite takes out his blue flower and crumples it.

At the hospital, Makoto suddenly abandons her snacks and rushes to Ami's room. The place is a mess, black flower petals everywhere and a nurse cowering in the corner.
She hurries out to look for Ami.
Ami has left the hospital, and elbows her way past two guys.
Makoto arrives a moment later to see them cowering on the ground amidst flower petals.

It's not time to keep secrets anymore. Makoto calls up Usagi and Rei who come running to the scene.
Ami is in a strange room filled with statues. It reminds me of the room in Act 6 that Makoto was taken to.
She stands there quietly as Kunzite regards her.

Makoto stops running. She can't find Ami anywhere. Suddenly a wind blows around her and she looks up at the trees. As the trees dance around, they tell her how to find Ami.
So a determined Makoto sets out again and she finds a mysterious building with flower petals swirling around it.

Kunzite finally approaches Ami. He reaches her just as Makoto comes running in. She pushes Ami out of the way and stands protectively in front of her. Makoto angrily Makes Up.
She moves Ami into hiding and then comes out, striking a pose. Kunzite just steps out of her way as she tries to hit him, in a very neatly choreographed fight scene.
He catches her Supreme Thunder and uses it to knock a pillar over. As Ami is still in a sort of trance, she doesn't move out of the way.
Jupiter pushes the pillar away and tells Kunzite that he cannot have Ami. She tells Ami to run, but Ami brushes her off.
Ami very dramatically rises to her feet and walks over to Kunzite.
Sailor Moon and Sailor Mars run in just in time to see this.

Ami raises her hand and her bracelet turns into a dark version of her hension watch. She calls out her new phrase: "Dark Power - Make Up!"
And then we see the new Sailor Mercury transformation - she's a darker version of her old outfit, with lots of black netting around her ribbons.
She says she's going to fight against the other three senshi.
