Chapter Thirty-Three: In the Dark:

Sunday Night.

Midnight drew in really close. Noiz and Mosh lied in bed together after making love. The kitty smiled to herself in the dark. Calm moment alone? Felt like it.

So quiet, she thought. Her hand held onto her husband’s as he slept. He looked so cute lying there. Her lips curved into a soft smile. Suddenly, she felt fingers curve around her own hand. Noiz’s heart leapt. A pair of brown eyes saw her.

“You’re awake?” she whispered.

“Couldn’t sleep either?” he asked.

Noiz shook her head. “No.”

“Me neither.”

“Nice night, isn’t it?”

“Yeah.”

“The picnic was good.”

“Yes.”

Mosh cuddled up close to his wife. “You smell nice.”

“Thanks, I guess…”

He buried his nose in her neck. Noiz’s eyes trailed to his head.

Okay… Mosh looked up at her.

“Oh, I’m sorry. Just got lost there for a moment.”

“I can see that.”

He kissed her on the neck. “You’re just that good.”

“Thanks?”

Mosh gave her a little smile. “You do this to me!”

Noiz gave him a puzzled look. “I do this to you?”

“Yes!”

“How?”

“You just do.”

“But how?”

“You tease me. You flirt with me. You eat with me. And…”

“Okay, okay!”

They lied there in silence for a long moment. Mosh nuzzled her neck again. Noiz smiled to herself in response.

“A whole year, huh?”

“Yeah.” He moved her hand to his chest. “School’s on break tomorrow.”

“Yes.”

“So.”

“So?”

Mosh looked deep into her pretty face. “Let’s go out tomorrow.”

Noiz blinked at him. “What?”

“Let’s go out tomorrow.”

“Go out where?”

The mouse shrugged at her. “Just anywhere.” He kissed her on the neck.

“What do you say?”

Noiz thought about that for a moment. “Well…”

“Please?”

“Well…”

Mosh kissed her on the neck again. “Please?”

The kitty closed her eyes and smiled. “Fine. We’ll go out tomorrow.”

Her husband smiled at her. “Thank you.”

“But where are we going?”

The mouse only smiled at her. He leaned in close to her right ear. “You’ll have to wait and find out in the morning.”

Noiz pouted at him. “Darn it!”

The boy giggled at her and gave her a little kiss on the lips. “Sorry, that’s how it goes.”

“Darn it!”

“I love you, though.”

She only gave him a little smile. “Love you too.”

“Good night.”

“Night.”

The couple went to sleep in their warm silence.
