THE REVOLUTION BEGINS...
The NEW WRESTLING REVOLUTION began as the NWA Revolution. A company affiliated with the National Wrestling Alliance and co owned by Dory Funk Jr. and The Macho Man Randy Savage. In NWA Revolutions' first and only program we witnessed the emergence of up and coming young talent such as Shark Boy and AJ Styles as well as the steadfast consistency of veteran stars such as Lex Luger, Mike Awesome, and Shane Douglas.
The evening began with Shane Douglas picking his battles right away and immediately going after management. However, when Douglas confronted Randy Savage in the ring about his spot in the night's upcoming World Championship match, Savage had an equalizer to take care of Douglas in the form of the man called STING!!!
As the night progressed, fans witnessed a major upset by Shark Boy over the savy mat technician Dean Malenko as well as an exciting #1 contenders 10 man battle royal which displayed all the drama and surprises expected from an opening night event and witnessed the emergence of Rick Steiner as the number one contender to the World title.
But, the real fireworks started when NWA World Heavyweight champion Jeff Jarret showed up and captured the NWA Revolution World title in a fatal four way match which featured Lex Luger, Rhyno, and Mike Awesome.
The revolution continues as new sponsors have stepped in and revived the fledgling company. And, although no longer named NWA, the NWR still has an affiliation with the legendary wrestling promotion as well as a working agreement with TNA.
UPDATE...
In a shock twist of fate, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon bought out New Wrestling Revolution. This annoucement stems from "private investors" (Wrestle Corp) who were thought to have bought out NWR, in reality Mr.McMahon was behind it all. We here at NWR hope to see NWR continue to entertain the fans, although Mr.McMahon stated as far as the future of NWR, it has no chance in hell.
