Capitan Tomas Tanchangco was born in 1849. Tomas married Rosenda Mendoza and raised his family in Malolos, Bulacan. He was the  "gobernadorcillo" of Malolos in 1879. Tomas was a fearless reformist and brought up his children to the ideals of freedom and democracy. After his death on 1889 Rosenda continued to host political meetings of Malolos activists in the guise of social gatherings in the Tanchangco house. The fervent love for country and freedom were passed on to the Tanchangco children. Two of their daughters belong to the "Brave Women of Malolos"
