| Digital cameras allow students to explore photography without the issues
of developing film, as would be the case with traditional cameras. Once
photographs are taken they can be instantly reviewed, saved, manipulated on
the computer or printed out. |
| Students can also take digital photographs of artwork that they created
and create a digital portfolio of there work that can be posted on the schools
website for parents to see what their children are learning and doing in the
art room. |
| Digital photographs of student artwork can also be taken and manipulated
on the computer to create entirely new works of art. By manipulating the
images on the computer, students have a sense of freedom to create without
concern of destroying their design. Anything that they do not like as they are
working can immediately undone. |
| Image manipulation programs like Photoshop Elements allow students to use
filters and digitized art mediums such as oil paint and watercolors that in a
traditional setting would be difficult to expose the students to. |
