* Carbon tanks remove chlorine and chloramines from the water to protect patients from
hemolysis.
* Carbon tanks are used in series so if the primary (worker) tank fails, the secondary
(backup) tank will still protect the patients.
* Carbon tanks are tested for Total Chlorine before EVERY patient shift.
* Total Chlorine test results are recorded on the Total Chlorine Log and must be verified by
a licensed staff member (nurse).
* When testing Carbon Tanks the RO must be running to ensure accuracy of the test result.
* With CWP units be certain the water consumption is NOT zero. When consumption is
zero, the CWP will not pull enough water to flush out the Carbon Tanks.
