* Total Chlorine is tested immediately after the first or primary carbon tank (or tanks). If the
reading is less than 0.1 mg/L dialysis treatments may continue.
* If the Total Chlorine level is greater than 0.1 mg/L the output of the secondary Carbon Tank
should be tested immediately. If the reading is less than 0.1 mg/L dialysis treatments may
continue and the following must be done:
- Contact B.E.S.T. and your CD or RD.
- Chlorine levels must be check EVERY 30 MINUTES and recorded on the Chlorine
Breakthrough Log.
* If the Total Chlorine level is greater than 0.1 mg/L post the secondary Carbon Tank
dialysis treatments must be stopped immediately and patients taken off the machines
without returning their blood.
