Go Across
Last night as I was praying
I saw you in my mind
You were standing in a barren field
The world has been unkind
And running there beside you
Was a stream of water clear
And on the other side
A grassy meadow waiting there
Go across, go across my child
to the place of trust and rest
Go across, go across my child
To the land that God has blessed
If you go to Jesus
He will heal your aching heart
If you go to Jesus
He will give you a new start
Go across
But you looked into the water
At the bottom of the stream
There were multi-coloured stones there
Of your hopes and of your dreams
And you couldn't bear to leave them
You just had to lift them out
So you focussed on the trifles
While the sun was coming out
Go across, go across my child
to the place of trust and rest
Go across, go across my child
Leave the trifles to the rest
Give your cares to Jesus
Don't just hide them in your heart
Give your hopes to Jesus
He will give you a new start
Go across
I watched you try to lift them
But the water was too deep
And the stones were far to heavy
And too slippery to keep
If only you would leave your cares
In Jesus' loving hand
And walk into the beauty
Of the promises he planned
Go across, go across my child
to the place of trust and rest
Go across, go across my child
There's a glory to possess
As you trust in Jesus
He will heal your aching heart
As you trust in Jesus
He will give you a new start
Go across
