That Was Then and This Is Now


I think about you in my mind
But it has been such a long time.
You have got a good life now,
And I have to move on.

So when you crossed my mind today
I tried not to think about what might have been
Because that was then and this is now
We have taken different paths.

We can't go back again, there's no use in trying
And there's no way to know what might have been.
We could sit and talk about this all night long,
And wonder why we didn't last

They might have been the best days we will ever know
But we'll have to leave them in the past.
That same old look in your eyes I'm so tempted to stay
But too much time has passed us by

We should just say goodbye now
And turn and walk away.
We'll never know what might have been
Because that was then and this is now.
