DARKLY CONTAGION

individually quiet, ridiculed
into scathing intention,
sharp indignation,
lapsing contrition
beneath these wars.
we inspire heat-
a fire seeping deep,
trigger happy and fatal
our lacerated betrayal…
gleaming provocation-
pent up frustration,
flaying consternation.
we are skidding into
some edge of senseless,
slipping down your dimensions
so razor cold and sheer,
until smoke curls and flames appear.
split nearer than thought
your tides swell-
cutting away at our Selves
in this self-indulged discontent,
hatred overtaking, too fiercely intent.
stumbling into fury-
our contrived pyrotechnics
truly of this
violence in flesh
gushing out your red silence.

GONE, THIS FUTURE

collection of desire
licking down
into puddles of symmetry,
some liquid mimicry-
two gleaming eyes,
your eyes:
this rippling mirror
of contemplation,
desperation,
an invocation of “please
i want all”
dripping up the
frame of you,
of the shame in you,
all contours and shadows
lined phrases,
missing pages-
melting into a future…
some future, the wrong future
staring backwards,
a web of tangle-
faceted angles
you dribble out,
clutching only
dust and a little past
this repetitive mistake,
you mistake
won’t let go, don’t let go,
drowning through and in and about
the error of you

SHE

butterfly eyes
and sweetly flies
tracing the lines of her tears to touch the skies
following quickly into the shadows of she
so lined in the gravity of her sighs
and the starkly whispered cries
of memories, the false histories, twisted reveries
sunken far into the wilting frame,
pinned up into the masonry of ruptured ties,
raptured lies
steeped hotly into the funeral of they
splitting evenly the sickening disguise
of their deceptive compromise...
and softly goodbye

DARK CUPID

In my most recent dreams
I've come to
know this black-eyed grace
that slings his
darts into the red corners
of my heart.

UNSIMPLE HER

She,
an illusive, impetuous outburst of raging commotion
neatly seated herself, smiled, and selected her light lunch.

Cleverly and brightly she spoke,
liltingly, persuasively,
a composite of intelligence and poise.

The waiter,
nervous as the new ones are…
a trip, a spill
all too quickly-- so sorry--

a barrage of hostile obscenities
she screamed so loudly

the red waiter sunk.

She
Was gone.

POPULATION: drain

And the party people
Forever laugh their inconsistencies
And breathe their booze
Believing they are real
And the party people dance
Together they graze and feed
They blend into a hazy parade
of chalked faces and painted smiles
Their gaudy costumes crowd the light into deserted
corners
where the couples cling
to borrowed phrases.

your strut- all manufactured sleek,
pre-assembled confidence,
you saunter, subtly noting
any reception of your progress
dulling your tongue and wit,
glazing eyes to a filmy sick-
too easy to fit, finding inclusion
in the mental atrophy of hip
