Jamie Elliott Keith
Lying
in the Full Moon
The whiteness of moonlight
Pulls me skyward like the ocean edge pulls to its center
My skin recedes from the chill
Smoothness of the sheets
I think I would soon be floating away
Drafting up toward the vacant ceiling
Airy as goose down that fills my pillow
That lies ever so lightly over
Drifting along the edges of sleep
Along the banks of the river of sleep
But for the heavy weight of warmth
Across the bed’s cool expanse
Your hand encloses
mine and I am
anchored
