One Small Step, One Giant Leap
I micromanage the moon
when the cow takes its leap.
Up it goes with perfect form,
front hooves extended,
its tail swooshing through space.
A close one, the cow is old,
but it will make it
once again, over the moon.
I micromanage the moon,
caring for the boot prints in the dust
left by the astronauts,
and the occasional scraping
when the rear hooves
kiss the surface,
small, historical scratches.
