PBS Kids Vote-A-Rama Liberty's Kids PBS Kids Interviews Aaron Carter
1) What's your favorite thing about Liberty's Kids?
It has a positive moral. It's basically a fun way to show history, and to teach kids about American history.
2) How did you get to sing the Liberty's Kids theme song?
I was approached by David Foster, who wrote the song. Actually, his wife wrote the song. He wrote, I think, the music for it. He produced it with me. He called us up and asked me if I wanted to be a part of it. So I said, "Yeah." I thought it would be cool.
3) Aaron Carter What do you like to do when you're not singing?
When I'm not singing, I like to ride dirt bikes. I've been doing that for awhile now, for nine years (just as long as I've been singing). I remember the first time I hopped on a motorcycle. The first thing my dad said was, "Don't touch the throttle." So the first thing I did was [touch the throttle and] crash right into our garage. I put a big hole right into it.
4) Aaron Carter How did you start singing?
When I was 6 years old, I was in a rock band that was horrible called "Dead End." The name kind of described us. People liked us; we would go and perform at coffee houses and stuff. I was always off-key, and the band was always off-key. They would always mess up--drop their guitars right onstage. I would be head-banging. I had long hair. It was fun, though, I enjoyed it.
5) Aaron Carter What's your favorite thing about being famous?
My favorite thing about being famous...it's not really as big of a deal as everybody says it is. Being on the road is tough, doing interviews, and all the stuff. It's still pretty tough. I mean, going to radio stations, getting up early in the morning, and not only that but you've got to make time for school and for performances. When you finally get free time, it's like "Wow."
6) Aaron Carter What's your least favorite thing about being famous?
My least favorite thing is probably being away from my family. They're always usually with me. This year they haven't really been, they've been at home. But, that's been sort of fun for me. I've had a good time.
7) Aaron Carter What do you want to do when you get older?
When I turn about 18 or 19 I want to go to college for marine biology. I've been wanting to do that for awhile, since I was about 8 or 9. As soon as I watched the Free Willy movie I was like, "I gotta do this." It's cool, you know, I want to be part of the ocean helping people out. That's why it kind of upsets me when I see people throwing stuff in the ocean. Because when you think about it the ocean's been here longer than us, so why do we have to treat it bad?
8) Aaron Carter Do you have any pets?
I have 24 pets. I have 1 turtle, 9 dogs, 5 cats, 6 birds, and 4 iguanas.
9) Aaron Carter Do you have a girlfriend?
I am single. I am a very single man. (Yes!) After Hilary Duff [from Lizzie McGuire]. I was with her for about a year. I got away from that relationship, but we're still friends.
10) Aaron Carter Do you get along with your brother Nick?
Yeah, I get along with Nick very well. He's very competitive with me, though. Everything I do he thinks he can do it better. Like motorcycles, he's never ridden one in his life until about a month and a half ago. I was showing him this trick: what I do is I go off a jump, about a 7-foot jump, and I do a 360-twist tail-grab. And he thinks he can do it. That's a really hard, hard trick. (I created it myself.) It's really hard because you have to hold onto the handlebars, let go in the middle of the air, do a full twist, grab onto the tail before you fall off, then pull yourself back on. So he thinks he can do it. He gets on the bike; he doesn't even know how to use the clutch. He gets on it, pops the clutch, then falls backward, and the bikes go over. So I teach him, and he goes off the jump, and he tried to do it. He did the twist but he just didn't grab on and he fell and landed on his stomach. That was the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life.
