Like criminal-court judges, music critics must -- or should -- take a juvenile assailant's tender age into account before issuing a ruling. But even at 13, Carter is old enough to be held at least partially accountable for the violations committed on this follow-up to his cloying 2000 breakthrough album. For starters, there is the title track, an unctuous bit of kiddie calypso that pairs him with big brother Nick, a Backstreet Boy, on what sounds like a commercial for Backstreet's tour. After a succession of similarly flimsy, hyperactive tracks that could be jingles for Ritalin, the younger Carter flagrantly hawks a few of his own projects on a bonus promo. Peddling a home video release, Aaron chirps, "If you liked my first Jive (Records) album ... you'll love this!" If I were sitting next to him in algebra class, I'd kick him.
