I'm writing this letter in hopes that some of you who aren't sure if you'll attend the Aaron Carter benefit concert tonight will.
I'm not a resident of the Keys; I live in Orlando. We attended the benefit concert last December as a birthday present for our daughter Kayla, and had a great time. We?ve taken her to at least six of Aaron's concerts, mostly in arenas, and none of them compares to the Marathon concert experience.
What we got at that concert was a great sense of community that you have in the Keys. We met people from every community (Key Largo to Key West). We were impressed with everything at the concert, right down to the high-school band having a concession stand. Kayla was so impressed that she has been asking all year if Aaron will have a concert in Marathon again.
I can't even imagine the amount of time and dedication all of the volunteers have put in to make the benefit concert happen again this year for the Grace Jones Community Center. I have talked to organizer Monica Stanny on the phone a few times over the last month, and she has gone beyond the call of duty in helping us make arrangements to attend again this year.
With Aaron Carter, the Carter family and all the volunteers giving back to their community in such a great way, I'm hoping most of you will, too. Trust me, $20 for a concert is a bargain, and to think - it goes for a great local cause. You can't beat it.
We're looking forward to being part of your community again, at least for one weekend.
