1999)
Trevor: Hi
I'm Treavor Sinclair. I recently caught up with Maurice Gibb from the Bee Gees
and asked him "Why a One Night Only concert"?
Maurice: Well, we wanted to do something a little
special and it's just to do.. rather than do a back to back city tour, this was
the sort of an idea we came up with.. and as I say we are just hoping that
umm,...everyone can get there to see it, because it's going to be ah, it's been
a really good show.
Trevor: It's obviously going to be more than just a
concert.
Maurice: Yeah, well .for us particularly... in Sydney,
yeah.. I mean , playing in Sydney is always....you know when your a kid there
and I use to walk through the park in Sydney, and I liked to go down George
Street, and I'd go past Harry Landers uhm, musical store where I bought my first
fill(?) string...[laugh] and I, god saved up money for that, and I, we worked at
a restaurant club call Stelsons, which is in Pitt Street.... and, so all the
those days we use to go in to the radio stations at 2UW and 2SM and ask them
they'd please play the new record and they never would [laugh]... and all these
things come back to us, when we're at home, but most of all the people. Because
no matter what we did or whatever we said or did, everyone all really liked us.
It's not the sights and what you see in the country, it's the people that make
the country.
Trevor:
I think you're going to be stunned at the changes, around the Homebush Bay area
that's for sure.
Maurice: I'll tell you something, every , last time we
were in Sydney in '89, and I remember still to this day, looking out of the
Sable Town House, [laugh] looking across there and seeing the (Sydney Harbour)
bridge there and everything, and that wonderful __(?) , 24 hour breeze, Which is
gorgeous. There's no city like it.
Trevor: We look forward to catching up with
you here, I'm sure people from all over Australia are going to want to be there
for this one. Thanks for taking time to talk to us.
Maurice:
It was my pleasure Treavor, Thank you... and thank you for being up so early.
