Chapter 11

"Uh...uh...wha...what...Daddy, what did you say??" Shit! Shit, Shit, SHIT!!

"Don't play with me young lady. You heard me perfectly well. We have no family whatsoever in Kentucky, and you know my company ships everywhere, especially hospitals!"

Daddy's going to kill me, but he's going to make sure things are ok first.

"Now, are Veronica and Ann ok?"

"Yes Daddy, they're fine."

"Good you can tell them they are on my shit list now too."

I give them the 'we are ALL fucked' look and they are ready to ditch me right then and there. I think they would rather walk back to Miami than ride with me. I know I would.

"Now how is Kevin? That's his name isn't it? Is he conscious yet? Tell me about the young man who can get my daughter to sneak so far away from home without telling her parents." He was upset and hurt. I didn't keep secrets from my father, until Kevin so he's very displeased.

"Well actually Daddy, he just came to. He seems to be ok, but the Doctor hasn't been here yet. However he keeps trying to talk and I am going to bash his head in if he doesn't pipe down."

"Put the phone to his ear. I want to talk to him. Tell him I talk he listens."

Oh Lord. "Uh Daddy I don't think he's...."

"Dianna, you are in so much trouble with me it's not even funny, so put the phone to his ear and tell him what I said, please." This was not a request.

"Kevin...my Dad wants to talk talk to you, but he says you can only listen. If you talk...just...don't do it ok?" I was mortified.

Kevin noticed the look on my face. He just nodded. I put the phone to his ear, held it and my breath.

I didn't hear what my Dad said, but Kevin grunted hm hm, a couple of times. He smiled and  even laughed before giving me a look that said it was time for me to talk.

I really didn't want to. I'm not scared of my father, by any means. I love him and respect him more than any man on God's earth. He's taught me how to be an adult. I would do nothing to disappoint him. I know, though, that he's disappointed with me about this situation. A situation that's going to get worse before it gets better.

"Dad?"

"Ok, he won't talk for a minute and when he's well, he and I are going to have a nice loooong chat."

I thought I would faint.

"Wha...what are you going to 'chat' about, Dad?"

"Never you mind. You stay with my new friend until he's well. I'll call your job and tell them that you've got a family emergency if you want. Are Ronnie and Annie going to stay with you? You are going to need hotel reservations. I'll find out what's there and I'll book it for you, all right? I'll text message you with the info, ok? Talk to you later sweetie."

He hung up before I could even blink.

I looked at Kevin and he had the most wicked grin I'd ever seen in my life on his face.

"What did he say, Kev?"

He just looked at me and shrugged his shoulders.

"He can't talk, Di, remember?" Ronnie was laughing.

"I don't know what YOU'RE laughing at. You're in as much trouble as I am. Dad said he's going to book us a hotel and he'll let me know where we're staying."

"Wait a second...You're dad's not on the next flight up here?" Ann had sense enough to be nervous.

"Nope"

"And Kevin hasn't been snatched through the phone?"

"Nope."

"Ohhhhh boy...I don't like it...I don't like it one damn bit!"

"Me either." I looked at Kevin for some kind of clue, but he just sat there with a shit eating grin on his face. He knew something and he wasn't telling.

I didn't like it one damn bit.
