WHO DO YOU LOVE? Chapter 3 Colleen's View
Later that night…
I had to talk to Brian. I had to tell him how I felt. I glanced over at my clock: 8:30 p.m. I picked up the phone, and dialed Sophia's number.
"Hello?"
"Hey, it's me."
"Hey Col, what's up?"
"I need to talk to you… about Brian." I said, weakly.
"I just got back from his house. We were watching TV, and lost track of time. He called me over there, because he needed to talk to me… about you. He was pretty hurt Colleen."
"I know." I mumbled, sadly.
"So let me ask you something… did you feel anything when you kissed him?"
"That's the thing… I did feel something. I'm completely in love with him."
"Oh shit." she groaned.
"What?" I asked, curiously.
"Col, today he asked me if he should give up on you, and I told him he should. I'm so sorry, I had no idea."
"Oh my God. Sophia, I gotta go talk to him."
"Just be honest with him… that's all he wants."
"I'm gonna go to his place, and tell him how I feel. I'll call you later."
"Good luck, not that you need it. The guy IS in love with you." she laughed.
"Hopefully… bye Cefi."
"Later."
I quickly ran a brush through my hair, smeared some lip gloss on, and was out the door.
"Hey everyone, this is 94.2, Orlando's #1 hit music station. I'm Harry Duran, and your listening to Backstreet Boys' The One."
I drove blindly, as the song blared on my radio. I couldn't think clearly… all I wanted was for Brian and I to be together.
"You need me, like I need you… we could share our dreams coming true… I could show you what true love means… just take my hand, baby please…" Brian's angelic voice made me smile. He had such a beautiful gift. My mind drifted back to last year, when BSB was on the Rosie O'Donnell show. He had been singing that just for me… why was I so blind to see that I loved him? What was my problem?
I slowly pulled up in front of his house, and made my way to his front door. He swung the door open, before I was able to ring the doorbell.
"Hey Bri." I smiled.
"Hi, come on in."
I took a seat on my favorite couch… the one in the corner of his living room.
"So, I hate to sound rude, but what are you doing here?" he mumbled, sitting down next to me.
"Because I, um, need to talk to you."
"Oh okay. Well you might as well talk… I'm listening."
"Brian, are you okay? You seem, I dunno, different."
"No, I'm fine. Now what do you have to talk to me about?"
I stared into his loving eyes, and I couldn't find the words. I took his hands in mine, and noticed him shift uncomfortably. He wasn't acting like his normal self.
Without thinking, I pressed my lips against his. He immediately jumped up, an angry look in his eyes.
"I-I'm sorry." I stuttered, standing up.
"What the fuck is this Col?" he shot back, angrily.
I was a bit taken aback by this, because Brian isn't the type to use bad language.
"What do you mean?"
"I am so fucking sick and tired of getting hurt by you. I can't take this bull shit anymore." he shouted.
His blue eyes were blazing into mine, and I felt my own eyes start to water. Brian never acted like this… ever.
"Brian, why are you acting like this? What happened?"
"What happened? I'll tell you what happened. I loved you so fucking much Col, and you just don't give a shit, do you? You don't care what happens to me, as long as your happy. Well, I've finally realized that you're not the one for me. I have been wasting my time on you for so long, and it wasn't worth it… it didn't mean anything to you."
"Brian, how could you say that? Of course I care!" I pleaded, beginning to cry hysterically.
"Bull shit! You didn't care last year, and you sure as hell don't care now! Do you remember last year? We slept together, and I loved you more than ever. I thought we were gonna be together after that, but guess what? We weren't, were we?"
"Brian, please, stop. I gotta tell you something, please." I begged.
"Don't even bother trying to talk to me, or trying to give me some bull shit. Why the fuck did you just kiss me? Is it because you haven't had any action for awhile, and you thought you would use me, yet again?"
"No, it's not like that Brian!"
"So then how is it Col? You know what, forget it. I don't wanna hear it." he disappeared into the kitchen, slamming down a chair in frustration.
"Brian, listen to me for one minute, please." I screamed, following him into the kitchen.
"Shut the fuck up!"
I decided that even if he wouldn't listen, I was gonna talk anyway.
"I'm in love with you Brian. I felt something when we kissed… I love you. I wanna be with you." I shouted, making sure he heard me.
"Bull shit." he muttered, before storming out of the room. He flung open the front door, and hopped in his car.
He was gone… I sunk down to the floor, and cried.
Brian's View
I didn't know exactly where I was going… I just kept driving. I couldn't believe how I had just treated her. I had never been so violent before… what was wrong with me?
I found myself in front of AJ and Sophia's house. If anyone could calm me down, it was Sophia.
"Hey B." AJ grinned, "What's going on?"
"Hey, I need to talk to Sophia." I replied.
"Okay, come on in. Are you alright?"
"Yeah… Sophia will tell you what's going on later. Just get her for me."
"Sure thing dude, hold up." he mumbled, disappearing into the kitchen.
"Brian, what's wrong?" Sophia said, weakly, noticing my sudden tears.
"Where's AJ?"
"Oh don't worry, he's watching TV downstairs. Now tell me what happened?"
"Colleen came over, and she kissed me. I started screaming at her, and she was crying. She told me she was in love with me, and I left." I said, sadly.
"You left?"
"Yep. I said something like, 'bull shit', and I left."
"Brian, she's not lying to you. She loves you."
"Then how come she didn't tell me sooner? When I asked her this morning?"
"Because she didn't wanna admit it Bri… you know how it is."
"Shit, I can't believe I blew up at her like that."
"Hey, it happens." she replied, patting my back.
"What should I do?"
"Well, what we talked about today… I only said that because I thought she didn't love you."
"Yeah, I know."
"Okay, well, I suggest you go and make her your girl." she grinned.
"You think so?" I asked, my eyes lighting up.
"You love her, she loves you… there should be no problem."
"You're right. Thanks so much, yet again."
"You're welcome. Keep it touch."
"Alright. You can tell AJ what's going on. I gotta go find Col."
"Good luck kid."
"Thanks." I smiled, before getting in my car, and heading towards my house. Hopefully she would be there.
Nick's View
BANG, BANG, BANG…
"Hold on Gwen, someone's at the door." I threw the phone on the couch, and opened up the door.
"Hey Nick." Colleen mumbled. Her face was tear-stained, and she looked terrible.
"Col, come in. What happened?"
"Long story."
"Okay on sec. Gwen? I gotta go baby, I'll see you tomorrow."
"Oh okay Nick. I love you."
"Love you too, later." I replied, clicking the 'off' button.
"So tell me what's wrong." I said, grabbing her hand, and bringing her to the couch.
"I'm in love with Brian." she blurted out.
"You're what?" I replied, shocked at what I thought I had just heard.
"I'm in love with Brian."
I could feel my mouth drop open, as I sat there in complete and utter shock.
"Where did that come from?"
"I dunno. When me and him kissed. Anyway, I went to his house tonight, and I kissed him. He started yelling at me, and I told him I was in love with him, and he left me there. And you're my best friend, so I figured I'd stop by."
"Oh." was all I could say. I wouldn't say I was jealous… just surprised… and possibly a bit jealous.
"And you don't have to give me advice or anything, I just need a shoulder to cry on."
"Yeah sure, I can be that shoulder." I muttered, blankly.
"Thanks." she replied, laying her head on my lap. I ran my fingers through her hair… that brought back memories of last year… when I was head-over-heels in love with her.
"Hey Nick?" she mumbled.
"Yeah?"
"Do you love Gwen?"
"Where did that come from?"
"I dunno, do you?"
"Yeah, I think so."
"Okay."
"Why do you ask?"
"Just curious."
"Just curious?" I asked.
"Yeah. Don't get so paranoid, I was just asking."
"Anyway, wanna watch some TV?" I mumbled, handing her the remote.
"Yep." she replied, turning on MTV.
"Hey Nick, I was just thinking about when we kissed the other night… you're still a great kisser. Nothing has changed." she said, flirtatiously, lifting her head to look up at me.
"Thanks." I grinned, blushing slightly. Colleen always gets flirty when she's upset.
"Wanna try it again?"
"W-what?" I stammered.
"You know, french."
"Alright." I found myself saying. I dunno why I said 'yes.'
She pressed her lips against mine, forcing my mouth open with her tongue. As the kiss deepened, I was getting more and more turned on. I wanted her so badly. I lifted her up, and brought her upstairs. She pulled me on top of her, lifting off my shirt. My hands were roaming her body, and we continued kissing. What the hell was I doing? All I could think about was how much I used to love her… and it took over my mind.
"Nick, wait." she mumbled, pushing me off of her.
"What?"
"I can't do this. You love Gwen, I love Brian. Lets just stop before we do something we're both gonna regret."
"Okay fine. Lets try watching TV again."
We made our way down stairs, and watched MTV, like nothing had happened. I love Gwen, but I would've had sex with Colleen… why? Only God knows…
Brian's View
"You're listening to BSB's I Want It That Way on 93.3!"
Colleen wasn't at my house when I got back, so I didn't even bother looking for her. She was probably at Nick's house. I was such a jerk to treat her like that. She loves me… we should be together. But instead, I had to lose my temper. She probably hates me now, or something. I'll just go to Nick's tomorrow morning, and apologize… hopefully she'll forgive me. I wanna be with her… God, that's all I've been thinking about for the longest time.
"Am I, you're fire? You're one, desire? Yes I know, it's too late… but I want it that way…"
I said a silent pray that it wasn't too late for me and her to be together…
