THOUGHTS BY THE EDGE OF THE SEA

Photo from WEBSHOTS

You never know where happiness starts and where it ends. And most of all you don’t know, once you reached it, how to make it last, how to stop the time, freezing it into a single, eternal, wonderful moment…
There is a ship out there, going towards the island of my dreams, lost somewhere far away in the mist. Out there is the light of the summer… the light of the endless happiness… Will I return?
A seagull surrounds me screaming joyfully. Could it be a sign? An answer to the question painfully tearing me apart and running along the foamy line left by the ship? If I knew…
I would like to be the sky carressed by soft, puffy spring clouds… or whispering sea bringing from far away, with every wave breaking on the shore, the fragrance of the depths… and only when I become sky or sea and I should be everywhere where they are, I will be really free to stay without anybody wanting or calling me, only then I will be able to choose to stay forever here.
I am none of these though. I am only a mere mortal. But I would like to stay.
I would like to never write on the sky, on the sea, on the sand, that I must leave. And my steps whisper to every stone : I would like to stay. And my eyes implore every leaf of the trees and every flower, while my lips whisper without voice the sweet prayer, for the sea to take it farther and farther, till the island of heaven, a ship is just coming from. What answer has it brought to me?
        I would like to stay.
