Paradise Gardens- Basic Caretaker Agreements (proposed wording- rough draft #4 "6-19-2000") 0. The concepts presented on the Paradise Restoration Project's official website or its official printed information must be agreed to by all Paradise Gardens Caretakers right from the start in order to prevent Consensus Council stalemates over basic issues and to stay on-Purpose. If there are any modifications which a Caretaker wishes to make to the basic concepts, or other Basic Documents of the Project, these can and should be brought up in special Consensus Council meetings, but shall take a much lower precedence than action-oriented Council meetings based on mutual agreement with the basic concepts of the Project. 1.No unlawful activities will be allowed at or adjacent to Paradise Gardens. A special Council Meeting must be held immediately to discuss any non-violent activity(ies) occurring at or adjacent to Paradise Gardens, to determine the facts of the situation and suggest action. If Council agrees unanimously that the alleged violator has actually committed these acts, the violator will immediately lose their Caretakership, and must immediately leave the premises. Even if the violator disagrees with the Council's decision, if the Council is certain as to the facts of the violation, the violator's participation in that Council meeting is disregarded because they have violated the Basic Agreements. (Any violent/"victim" crime committed by anyone, occuring at Paradise Gardens will be grounds for action, without a Council meeting held, based on plain evidence, necessitating immediate removal from the premises plus immediate restraint and legal action, if necessary.) (See "Consensus Council" for more on this). 2. No plant will be harvested, cut, trimmed, replanted, removed, or otherwise altered without being decided on first by Council. 3. All harvested items will be brought into the proper common area for equal distribution. 4. Alcoholic beverages, campfires, volatile oils and other natural volatile substances which are not hypo-allergenic will not be allowed in the Sanctuary, but must be kept downwind and out of reach and view of the Sanctuary, in the "A" camp. If this proves too difficult to do, these substances will not be allowed anywhere at Paradise Gardens. 5. No hunting is allowed at Paradise Gardens. 6. No marijuana will be tolerated on or adjacent to Paradise Gardens.... We respect the right to do as one pleases, but others at the Gardens may be in substance recovery and wish to be completely free from breathing someone else's smoke. Marijuana is also of questionable standing with regard to the law. People such as those that were living at Earth Peoples' Park in Vermont State, usA lost everything, including a 20-acre piece of land covered in mature fruit trees, vegetables, houses, etc., ostensibly due to "felony quantity" marijuana possession and related (fabricated?) charges.... (Read Wavy Gravy's book, "Something Good for a Change- Random Notes on Peace Thru Living" for more on this). Those legally allowed to use medical marijuana will be excepted from the agreement to not be in possession of the herb at Paradise Gardens, but still must respect others who would be negatively affected by cannabis smoke. Legal cannabis users can, of course, use the herb on Paradise Gardens grounds by drinking or eating it instead, which is also preferable for health reasons overall. 7. No animal products may be used at Paradise Gardens. 8. No artificial fertilisers, artiificial pesticides, herbicides, or other artificial or man-made chemical substances may be used at Paradise Gardens. 9. No genetically modified seed may be used on or anywhere within 10 miles of Paradise Gardens. 10. No invasive plant or seed will be planted in the Main Gardens or in Private Gardens without prior approval of the Council. There will be lists made available of truly invasive species and troublesome artificial hybrids, which are not allowed for use at Paradise Gardens. 11. No artificial hybrid plant or seed will be used at Paradise Gardens. 12. Donations made to and/or for the use of the Paradise Restoration Foundation, the Paradise Restoration Project, Paradise Gardens, The Free Festival Committee or any of their endeavours shall be irrevocable. 13. The Paradise Restoration Foundation, Paradise Gardens and its Caretakers shall not engage in any form of commerce at any time (allegedly) in connection with the Foundation or Paradise Gardens. This agreement does not apply to actual Project-sponsored fundraisers such as the Free Festival. 14. Caretakers may not publicly allege to represent the Paradise Restoration Foundation, Paradise Restoration Project, Paradise Gardens, the Free Festival or the Free Festival Committee. However, any Caretaker may, as an alternative, present Our official materials to the public. Back to the top of this page Home Plans Funding FAQ Consensus Council
