Scotland Students Rugby League

Welcome to the Scotland Rugby League Students section.  The Scotland Students side has been running since 1989 and has competed in four Student World Cups Competitions.  This tournament, which takes place every three years, has taken place at various locations around the World. The final stages of the last (1999) were held in Hull after qualifying matches were played in Paris, Cardiff, Dublin and Glasgow. There are now 16 International teams competing, including; New Zealand, Australia, Russia, Japan, USA, South Africa, Western Samoa and Canada. In the last World Cup Tournament (1999), Scotland won the "Plate" competition with New Zealand beating England to win the main final.  The Scots also finished third in the Inaugural European Cup in 2001, being nipped to a Grand Final place by the English by a dramatic 13-12 sudden death semi-final field goal.

In-between the World Cup years there are Home Nations and European International Championships, including games against France, England, Wales and Ireland. In the most recent Home Nations Championship, Scotland came third with England finishing as the victors. This summer, the Students travel to France and Italy on tour.

Your country needs you! We are currently looking for players who are eligible to get involved with our campaigns. There are a number of ways for students to be eligible. Students must study a minimum of six hours per week at an Educational Institution. They can be any Nationality if studying at a Scottish University or possess Scottish ancestry (Parents or Grandparents).
